If y’all haven’t watched the shining and doctor sleep- you’re missing out. It’s the first Flanagan movie I’ve ever seen and it’s absolutely (Dr Sleep) amazing, probably one of the best horror movies ever made.

When Oxy was released into the market, Purdue Pharma essentially caused the opioid crisis by getting doctors to overprescribe it as a miracle pain reliever, but didn’t make it clear or known the seriousness of the side effects and its extremely addictive properties. Purdue has been held liable for nearly half a million opioid deaths. And there’s no telling just how many people are suffering from substance use disorder as a result. Nearly half of all heroin users began as people who were prescribed opioids like Oxy but turned to heroin because it’s much cheaper than pills. Juno is kinda the opposite in this case where he’s keeping her addicted to these pills to “prove they aren’t addictive” and essentially be like “see! Even a ‘junkie’ can get off of dope with the help of ligadone!” It’s pretty twisted and very on brand for the kind of empire they’re trying to portray here
