Duck Season

A little sneak peak of April's sketchbook pages as well as a little life update.

I was not going to hatch any baby chicks or ducks this year since I wanted to focus on garden projects and improving the bird yard and facilities before adding more. BUT... a friend of mine is a member of a community garden in the city. They have a flock of birds of their own and wanted to add ducks to it and asked if I had any. I ended up caving (very easily) because with this I have the excuse of "well, theyre not for ME."

So, today they are hatching. So far 8 have hatched, with 3 maybe hatching. Ducklings can get all the way to the finish line, break the shell, and still not survive the hatching process. I'm hoping the best for them and am excited to see them grow up and go to their new home.
