For instance compare the amount of DSPs (render units) inside some 3XXX series dies to the amount of DSPs inside the equivalent 5XXX dies and you will be surprised. The improvements you will get from the new card will be less than what you would expect. And then you have the power cables issues. You may want to consider some reviews from places like gamers nexus.

In my case one machine was failing so I had to buy a new one, so there was no point in going for an older GPU since we have the 50xx. But I didn't know about all these problems

2025-06-13 18:18:03 +0000 UTCI hear your pain. Daz 4.24 is crap. I wish I'd never updated from 4.23. Laggy as hell. I'm rendering on an RTX 4060 at the moment but I have my new rig with 4070 Super waiting for me to use it (in middle of decorating at mo). I deliberately avoided the 50 series, mainly because of the price, but also because I don't like paying to be essentially a Beta tester, I'd rather wait until the bugs are ironed out. FWIW, I'm rendering a 4k in about 20-30 minutes on the 4060, depending on what's in it.

2025-06-13 17:41:49 +0000 UTCYea the 5 series not being officially supported has but a thing running the community for the last few months. Part of the reason my render machine is a 4090. Other part being the gains arent gonna be worth it for single generation gap plus added costs. I havent found much use for the 2025 alpha either.
