Japanese media is super-duper persistent when it comes to characterization, so much so that some characters will have a verbal tic/catchphrase they will CONSTANTLY say because it's one way for a character to be memorable. I can't count how many characters in all the Japanese media I've watched that have one (i mean in movies, anime, tv dramas, comedy, variety shows, etc). While it's not unheard of in American media (think Homer Simpson's d'oh!), I just find Japan to be more consistent and persistent with the practice to the point where you get nonsense stuff like 'nabula' lol.
