You definitely CANNOT skip this season. It is very much needed, especially the second cour, for plot into season 6. The reason people whine about this season is the pacing is a bit rough in the beginning and because the manga art looks SO much better this season. It’s very much animation related. They still have some moments of stellar animation though.
