Chapter 26 and Everything MTWY

Exclusive Release Date: March 26–27, 2024

We're starting Book 3. Pinch me, I'm dreaming. Except I'm not, developing my own game is like a wish come true, and I consider MTWY a great first step for me, well, us. There's a whole lot more we have in store, and now we'll be presenting to you the third book soon.

The transition between books has always been difficult, you have to emphasize the tonal shift, make a new main menu screen, and end the book in a way that says "Damn, that's a good finale" while making sure you start strong on the subsequent book. Simply put, you have to make it feel that the reader did shift Books or Seasons, not just for the size or saying, 'Look how much we've done'.  If I may point out Book 1; Chapter 11 ends with Kanehana's concert and MC's almost accident, then starts Chapter 12 with the "Yu" Fiasco in Hikari's arc. I poured as much as I could into that arc, even if my skills were more limited back then, now I'm even more paranoid. With Chapter 25 out of the way, I got half of it done, and as we're nearing the release of Chapter 26, I've been second-guessing myself. A lot more than usual, that is.

Forgive me if I have mentioned this before and now sound like a broken record, Book 3 will reveal everything, starting with Chapter 26. The 3rd book will be the climax, with the 4th book as a complete conclusion. I have everything I need to tell, the bitch of it is:

"How do I tell it?"

Answering this question is what I've been doing mostly these past few weeks. I'll repeat this for those who aren't in our Discord Server, though I recommend you join there. The original plan was, as soon as Book 3 starts, then Lost Time too, then after the events in that timeline, we go back to the present. I figured that's not how it should be, MTWY's plot focuses on moving on and making a better future through Lost Time's Sacrifice, telling the events in that timeline, for no reason other than showing it without it directly contributing to the Present scenario is a waste and a miss. So here comes my new dilemma:

"Why are we seeing this right now?"

This is a tough question that needs to be answered, so I need to make sure the Lost Time events shown correlate to the current issue at play in the present time. This would also make the jumps between the Lost and Present time smoother and won't cause any confusion.

So far, I have the story flow up to Chapter 29 ready and waiting, which provides me quite a bit of time to figure out how to tell the rest. It's going to be quite a ride. I've also been polishing certain lore and building MTWY-adjacent Game 2's foundation. Writing, writing, writing, writing, that's what I've been doing. The creative juices have been overflowing.

Let's talk about specifics in Chapter 26

Avoid this paragraph if you haven't played Chapter 25; it may contain hints that may spoil your experience.

A big reveal in Chapter 25's post-credit scene has been shown, and we're going to dive into it in this chapter, along with the rules and parameters of the time travel spell they used and hinted throughout the story. With FMC racing against time and most of the pieces in place besides the most important one, what will happen? This will be a huge turning point in our cast's lives, and there's no turning back. And we need the two in the cover photo above to tell it. Oh, and this will also be their first Halloween party as a group. To have your voice heard and choose what costumes they will be wearing in the upcoming chapter, go to our polls.

P.S. Thonk, Dice, and Hime's side stories will be told soon, but unlike the first offchapters, we will include this in an actual Chapter Release.
