(1) William and Emilia couldn't see the unseen hands. But those hands are physical. William could see them in the first encounter because the twins blew the river away and created rain where William could see the hands from the rain. The second time was because of the sand dust. You can see William smashed the ground to create a cloud of dust. For Emilia, she spread her ice flakes so she could see where those hands were. (2) What Felix did was mana draining Subaru. Felix also did this to one of the fingers in the caravan to incapacitate that finger. And Subaru has experienced this mana drain before when he first met Loli (I mean Beatrice).
