Book 2: Chapter 20 Exclusive Release

Chapter 20: For Your Eyes Only!

Finally! It's up, I don't even want to say how long it took me for this chapter because it's a little embarrassing, especially with the constant postponement of the date, but I did my best to make every single day count. The good thing is, I finished on a weekend!

So chapter 20, it's 1100+ Renders and 72 Animations(Excluding hundreds of renders and 20+ scrapped animations), at least the quantity proves that I wasn't slacking off; as for the quality, you judge.. Honestly, I expected it to be quite long, but not this long. It matches chapter 18 easily in length, maybe even more.

Everything about this chapter is difficult, there's not a single part of this that went easy. Ch18 doesn't hold a candle to this in difficulty.

How it went longer? It's a mixture of wanting to not release it til it's the best that it could be and to do justice to Akemi's Arc and her steps toward her wants. I think I delivered it well. I may have gone over the top but to me, every scene with Akemi was needed, it symbolized her descent down the rabbit hole and not just hers. The release dates that I post are based on the written script for the chapter, but ideas come to me more when I'm making the visuals, hence the constant misses. Apologies, but I'll make the release range wider to avoid this.

Chapter 20 is an extremely important checkpoint for MTWY, so any less than the effort that I've given it was unacceptable.

It was one idea after the other after I completed the writing, and it piled on and on, til it became what chapter 20 is now, but supposedly without any setbacks the release could've been on the 26th, it was definitely complete by then. The 27th and today were used for the revisions. I got sick on the 25th, but nothing serious, runny nose, and light-headedness(my head felt tight). I was still working on MTWY by that time and just kept thinking of the food vendor in the movie Rush Hour yelling "I'm no punk bitch" and when the 26th hit. I ran the game for a final edit. I was like, WTF is this? The idea was good, but the execution was lackluster, hence the revisions. Yeah, the illness got in the way a little bit. but no need to worry I was okay since yesterday.

It's actually funny and amazing at the same time, that while making this chapter, the details that needed to be filled in for Akemi's ending came to me. Guess that's what momentum does, Akemi's ending is FULLY written, so that saves me some trouble. (You guys won't see it anytime soon but I want to mention it anyway.)

I also made sure that the chapter ended properly and that the buildup toward the big end is delivered in a convincing fashion. Got to leave you wanting more after all. I'd give anything to see your reactions by then. So I remind everyone, to discuss this chapter in the proper channels/servers, and avoid those of course until you finished this chapter.

Also, the you-know-what scenes in this chapter are a little tricky but there are hints in the dialogue so it shouldn't be that difficult to see them all. The walkthrough should be up shortly today for those who want to use it.

This is an incredible feeling, I remember making chapter 1 and setting this plot, I kept thinking, "How do I get this far?", most of this chapter's plot points were made when MTWY was only an idea in my head. Now I made those ideas into something real. It wouldn't have gone this far without your support, thank you is not enough. Also, I'm always looking forward to everyone's feedback, it brings me joy to read and reply to your messages. 

So that's chapter 20, let's move to the game-adjacent issues.

I understand that you're supporting us with your hard-earned money and this is a bit of a slowing down but it is for a good reason, so I'll start as soon as possible. Day after tomorrow surely. Chapter 20 left too much mess(materials and otherwise), I have to clear those, and I have to design an MTWY desktop wallpaper as well, I'll skip the mobile wallpapers this month.

There's little to no thinking involved in this side of the project so there won't be any delays for sure. I'll report daily on the Patreon-Exclusive chat on discord on the progress. 

The PUBLIC RELEASE SCHEDULE has been revised. the public version being released less than a week apart from the exclusive was meant to gain publicity but now it looks like it's hindering people from supporting since there's only little wait for the new chapter. It gives more incentive to paying supporters too. I will make a poll for this, for I'm still unsure how this should be implemented, but the public release will now take longer for sure.

I believe all of you came from playing the public release as well. If there's anyone who was going around on Patreon and looking for this kind of game and then pledged without having knowledge about the game's content except what's written in the summary and/or "about", please raise your hand. TL;DR: Shit was hard, maybe too much Akemi, big boom at the end so watch for spoilers. No mobile wallpapers but there will be Desktop ones. Re-rendering Book 1 is a go, Public release will take longer from now on.
