Yknow…diving in is the way. You might feel like you’re banging your head against the wall but then you’ll have a breakthrough…it’s rewarding

Thanks Dan! As a musician unfamiliar with (but interested in) sampling and sequencing I appreciate your honesty admitting you just jumped in without prior knowledge. The programming aspect has always been intimidating to me - afraid of the learning curve I guess.

Tim! This is a great summary! #4 especially. I think a lot of people get intimidated or feel diminished if they can’t “get” a certain instrument. It’s really an issue in the electronic music community at large…there’s a very macho mindset around complex systems or unforgiving user interfaces. The truth is, sometimes you just don’t jive with an instrument. I personally like things that are inviting and encourage experimentation or play

Takeaways from a non-gear head. 1. Don’t wait to know what you are doing to get started. 2. It took a team of people to create HF, not just the two people we think about. 3. The limitations of the equipment create the character and structure of the outcome and that’s a good thing. 4. It’s okay to return a tool/instrument/solution if you realize it won’t help you do what you want at your current skill level. It’s not a failure. 5. You don’t need to make the live show the same at the album (as a non-musician fan, I’ve always felt this way, but it was great to hear a musician struggle with this and also become open minded to this and understand their own psychology behind it) 6. Gear

Extremely interesting to hear about your journey with managing the equipment to create Furs songs, particularly your learning curve as you moved through the records.

Well let’s be honest, I know nothing about gear. I’m just here to watch you speak. ❤️ dreamy 😍 but some stuff you said made me laugh 🤭
