Ok, this is another evidence of my old age, I mean Konami Code and the cheat code guides. I remember it was one of my favorite sections in videogames magazines I read when I was a kid! There were also guides with a long list of cheat codes. All of this was wiped away by internet. Who needs a magazine or a book to know how to cheat a game? And who needs cheat codes today? games are more friendly if you don’t want to play hard, and this is a good thing, especially today, when games tell a story and it’s not only a matter of run, fire and save a Princess.
It’s a bit sad to discover that my favorite videogames magazine (The Games Machine, it’s still published) no longer has a cheat codes section, but considering what I said before, it’s pretty normal.

2024-09-27 15:52:43 +0000 UTCI've been a gamer for 30+ years and the Konami Code is still used in things today, although it's more likely to be a special scene or aesthetic change than a big power up. There are mods for that in games now.
