You might be interested in this: https://www.pem.org/exhibitions/the-great-animal-orchestra-bernie-krause-and-united-visual-artists Lines along the left walls move up and down the audio spectrum with the sound in real time. At the vertical line of white light (the present), they leave behind a point of light (brightness varies with volume) that moves slowly to the right around the room so you can see the shape of each animal's sounds (showing about 90 seconds of history). Sat there mesmerized a few days ago for about an hour. Can't begin to think how to pull something like this off in Blender.
