Yes, the person with thalassophobia played the thalassophobia game 😔

I’m really glad I finally found time to watch this (college is the worst). I don’t personally have thalassophobia, so It’s genuinely interesting to hear about the game from such a different perspective! Even though it seems obvious in hindsight, before this I had never really thought about how hard it could be to play Subnautica. Likewise, I had never thought about how helpful the option to turn off creature aggression could be.
I actually got a scuba diving license a few years back, just to give a better idea of just how different my perspective is. Coming at it from that perspective, I really loved the game. It’s obviously not exactly true to real life (for example, it can get dark and murky even faster in real life, like seriously, the level of visibility in the crash zone is pretty good compared to the lake I went to for my certification dive), but the deviations from real life are clearly to make the gameplay work.
Honestly, the main difference is that Subnautica doesn’t get into just how brutally cold it gets even just a few meters below the surface. You can quite literally feel the divide between the warmer water above, and the cold water below since the temperature of the water changes several degrees over just a couple inches.
(Also can I just say I absolutely love your voice. Seriously, 10/10)
