Tutorial 1: How To Shade Basics
Added 2021-11-18 04:17:14 +0000 UTCI used the pin up I made for Databank as an example to pick apart to create this tutorial! This is a rough step by step on how I like to approach shading. No way is right and there are differences everyone has. I tried to break down the layer set up as best as I could.
This assumes you already have a drawing down. It starts with breaking down the base color layer. Good luck!

I think every artist who makes tutorials should follow this example, because it can be very daunting always trying to find the "correct" way to draw, instead of just drawing inspiration from what looks good to you. I'm an artist who struggles with many things, including shading, and im very grateful you took the time to make this. It's simple and easy to follow, but covers all the bases.
