New Posting Schedule Discussion and Poll

Dear Readers,

I hope you're all doing well!

Starting in February, I’ll be transitioning to a regular posting schedule—five times a week (Monday to Friday) on both Royal Road and Patreon.

My Initial Plan

Originally, my goal was to release two chapters a day on Patreon until I reached:

Goal 1: 10 advanced chapters (Completed!)

Goal 2: 25 advanced chapters (In progress!)

To achieve this, I aimed to push through with two chapters daily, seven days a week. However, I’ve realized I bit off more than I can chew. This previous week has been truly, extremely challenging for me.

I experienced a creativity slump and my chapters had not been up to my own standards. I struggled to maintain my original vision, but thankfully, I rediscovered some old notes that helped reignite my inspiration.

A Necessary Adjustment

While I still plan to reach 25 advanced chapters, I’ve realized I need some breathing room. To maintain quality and avoid burnout, I’d like to take one or two days off each week (likely on weekends) to recharge.

This means it will take a bit longer to reach my second goal, but it will also allow me to brainstorm and create better chapters.

I truly appreciate your support, and I don’t want to rush things at the cost of storytelling quality.

Alternative Approach – Your Thoughts?

If you all agree, I can try a different schedule:

I always intended to increase chapter length once I returned to writing one chapter per day, five days a week. Right now, writing two per day limits me to around 1,800 words per chapter.

Your Feedback Matters!

I currently have no backlog. It is very stressful, but the upside is that I can adjust the story quickly based on your feedback. To ensure I’m delivering what you want, I’ll be holding a few polls soon.

Thanks again for your support. Let me know what you think!

Best,

Two chapters a day is too much. Five a week is fine. I would recommend just sacrificing a the next several weekends to crank out an extra chapter (One Saturday one Sunday) to reach the 25 goal. If you don't have time constraints, then you can make a routine of it until you reach your goal and maintain balance. Being your own employer/business owner is hard and often you are going to be working 7 days a week until you can fully establish your business. That's just reality if you want to succeed. Cheers!

Always make sure to take care of yourself first! I enjoy this story a lot and I want you to continue enjoying to make it

Don't push too hard. If you can't make a chapter a day, do one every other day. most do less than 5 chapters a week, and you can slow your royal road down to 4 chapters a week without loosing many if any followers.

Might be a good idea to keep going with the 1.8k chapters until you have your 25 chapters and then start increasing Chapter lengths. I personally prefer longer chapters of higher quality so if you can somehow reach 2-3 4k~ chapters/week eventually I think that would be really nice. Either way, consistency is key.

I don’t think it will be happening or even enjoyable for you to write, but I honestly like longer chapters the most, meaning 5k-10k words per chapter (not practical for a meteoric rise on RR as 30 chapters of that length would most likely be unsustainable and that works quite good for rising stars) once or twice per week. I just feel it lets the reader immerse themselves more in the story, but I get that’s not realistic, but it can definitely work. Just a completely different idea… Bust I agree with Kasper, better find a sustainable pace without burning out and don’t overpromise.

My opinion about schedule is more or less: dont over promise. For me it is more important that the quality stays the same and that the schedule dont chance constantly without notice than that there is 5 chapters or 1 chapter a week. My decision about which patrons to pause or stop is usually based on if i immediately read the chapter when i see it or waiting to later.

This story has a lot of potential. You should do whatever sets you up best to be able to continue this for months and years to come.
