i've commented on it before, but i always felt that one panel just wasn't enough to really let the weight of a first kiss impact the reader. Sure, the previous page was a big flashy full page of glorious kissing, but, i think this additional page of, the slow transition between the complex emotions that flow through them as it happens, helps to show just how much one can feel in such a short, special moment!
i wrestled with this page a GOOD bit. i wasn't really sold on those first four panels, showing the slow expression changes. Leo going from his shocked bug eyes, melting into the warmth of the kiss, while Magna going from her determined, somewhat scared, fierce focus, equally giving into the tenderness and bliss of it. i just couldn't get it to look right! so i played around with a few other concepts, and nothing felt right.
i decided to take another swing at the expressions, and manage to clean them up in a way i was happy with! sometimes, you just need to bash your head against a drawing a few times before it finally works!
there's no dialogue in this, so no dialogue was tweaked, but i did take out the one kiss close up panel. i felt it didn't really add anything, it was really there just to prolonged the kiss, but i think two whole pages dedicated to it is plenty of "screen time" to show you, the reader, that those two had a loving, long, first kiss together.
