The majority of the song is from his parents perspective, not his, and then his perspective at the end. It's so beautifully vulnerable and fragile. So much regret and sadness, I feel so honoured Chan would even share something so deeply personal with us Stays. Minnie did such a wonderful job at conveying the emotion, as always. A song that has and will stay with me forever. As someone with regrets about goodbyes, it hits different. Well done to skz they do not fail to amaze with everything they do!

Changing the rhythm of time means like, if chan could stop time. Or rewind a little. Make it where he could get home to his parents but also back in Korea with no time passed. He's not regretting or wanting to go back and change time, just wishes he could bend and alter time to be able to go both places without time passing. His mums tiktok response letter was equally heartbreaking and beautiful. And we are pri ilidge they bothered OK to make both so public as it's a very personal hard time they experienced. Think whole random hurt when this was released. As a mum I know did.

The letter that Chan’s Mum wrote in response to the song (widely shared online) is so beautiful and tells the thoughts from her POV. 💞

I wonder if Chris asked his parents for their POV when making this song

I think a lot of us regret the choices we made in our teens. Bang Chan regrets what he lost, but I don't think he'd choose differently either were he to go back. So I think this song is just about acknowledging the loss, both to himself and his parents. Most of the song is from his parents POV - did they even know what he was going through? We don't know how much he communicated with them, and I doubt we'll ever know. Not our business. Still, a really moving song.

'Goodbye' always makes me cry. All I can think about is my son growing up 🥺

WAIT. New theory. I forgot that that part of the song is probably from Chan’s parents’ POV. It might’ve been about if his parents could go back in time and change something, they wish that they would’ve visited South Korea more.
“If I could change the rhythm of time
I'd go back and forth a million times
If that's what it takes to keep you right by my side”
Back and forth between Korea and Australia to stay by his side more and experience more of his childhood together with him and make sure he wasn’t alone

Edit: This is definitely wrong, read my reply to this comment for a better theory
I wonder with the “If I could change the rhythm of time, I’d go back and forth a million times” lyrics means that he would like to return to those times but not give up the present as well? He wishes he could go back and experience that time with his parents, but he also loves his current life and the culmination of where those hard times eventually led to. So he wishes he could oscillate (“go back and forth”) between the past and present and that he could have the best of both worlds.
This is just completely speculation though—just a little theory I thought of after you mentioned the line.
