Update: Sci-fi, Tragedy, and Polyamory

Hey all! I'm going to try and get better about regular updates with what's cooking for Games as Lit. 101. So here we are!

At the moment, I'm working on writing a literary analysis of Tacoma. It's a short game that I've wanted to write about for some time, so it felt like a good pick to get me back into the swing of things. I'm aiming to have the video done before the end of September.

I'm also going to start replaying The House in Fata Morgana soon, in anticipation of writing my analysis. It is, frankly, a huge game in terms of narrative content, dense with both writing and thematic weight. It's going to be quite a challenge to take it on, so I'm going to do something I've never done before and play it twice before writing my analysis.

I'm also in the planning/research stage for a video about polyamory in video games. Or maybe generalized non-monogamy in video games? Both approaches have their pros and cons, so when it comes time to write the episode I'll have to feel out which ends up working best. In any case, I find the subject fascinating, and it'll be fun to vent my frustrations with this medium's simultaneous obsession with player agency and hesitancy to allow, or even entertain, non-monogamous romances.

And of course, October is on the way, which means I'll have to start playing Fatal Frame III soon. It's my personal favorite of the series, despite a lot of people being pretty down on it, so I'm excited to finally tackle it. I want to finish the Tacoma analysis (or at least writing it) and make some headway on the polyamory video before I start playing it though, so I'll figure out how to juggle that in my schedule.

Thanks for your patience. I'm going to try and give more updates like this, as well as occasionally just writing down random thoughts, whether about specific games or the state of the industry in general (the latter of which will be exclusive to patrons). Here's to some exciting stuff in the future!

Hell yeah buddy, looking forward to watching what you think of all these! As always, take care of yourself, and we'll be here when you're ready. :)
