Poll: Patreon Content/Frequency

Hello everyone,

I'm aware that, even during my seasons of regular content creation, I don't post to Patreon as often as I probably should. So I'm trying to fix that.

That said, I'm perhaps a little insecure about exactly how often is appropriate to do this. I'm told patrons enjoy hearing from people quite regularly, and yet I fear posting too often would simply drive people away. So, I've come here to ask your preference.

Posting more often would essentially mean more posts about random thoughts. Things I thought of playing an interesting game, rambly ideas for potential videos, geeking out over something I played or something I'm looking forward to, things like that. Posting less often would mean posts are comparatively more meaty, and focused on actual upcoming content for the channel.

So, with that in mind, how often would you prefer to see new posts to this Patreon?

I concur. You should post when you have something that motivates you to post. Otherwise it becomes a burden. I understand that the feeling of responsibility may create some anxiety. You may wish to impose minimum schedule (e.g. "I will post monthly at a minimum") on yourself, which may help you feel better during thise times when life becomes overwhelming and you don't have any thing else to post. I've had creators just ask for cat pictures when they are feeling down. We can support you in many ways!

I may be in the minority here, but I feel there should be another option for essentially "I don't care"; I'm on Patreon primarily just to support you, if you feel like you've got stuff to update us about and give us details on, I'm all ears, but otherwise do your thing. I'm not going to feel abandoned unless literally months go by without a YouTube upload or something.

I prefer frequency, of course, but for you? Only as much as you're comfortable with. There's what I want, and then there's what's best for you. As a creator myself, I know full well that your pace and your audience's desires will never be the same thing, so I sincerely hope that you only do what you find sustainable.

In my mind, Patreon posts are mostly done for either content previews or more general updates, like "here's how the next project is shaping up" or "here's the plan for my upcoming videos", done as either statements of fact or polls to receive some guidance. I certainly don't EXPECT anything, as I'm supporting you in order for you to make the projects you want to work on, not to be held accountable for your productivity. I'd just say post when you feel like it, minimums be damned.

I'm of the opinion that no frequency is too often to hear from you, but I wouldn't want it to become a burden on you either, and I respect that others may feel that it becomes excessive at a certain point. Some other creators I follow do weekly updates, and that works out well, so perhaps that might be a good fit for you too? You can always adjust as you go, of course.
