Update from Jacob
Added 2024-02-13 20:28:29 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
I wanted to give you a long overdue update on all things Thin Air 3D! I have seen your questions and comments wondering where I've been, and I really appreciate those of you that have reached out to make sure I was ok!
More than anything, I would like to apologize for my lack of communication since December. I appreciate each and every one of you and the support you give me, and I do NOT take it lightly. I do not like to go this long without having new models for you to print and/or add to your shops.
Now what's been going on with me? Its been a combination of a few things, but most of it has revolved around the fact that I've been working on moving halfway across the country since the New Year. Not an excuse for my absence, but the reality is that this move caught me way more off guard than I think I was ready for.
It has required much more of my time and energy than I anticipated, and only seemed to amplify the closer it got to moving time. Coupled with how crazy this past holiday season was, I feel like I've been operating on fumes the last 6-7 weeks.
I fully anticipated being able to continue creating and releasing models DURING this time, but I overestimated my ability to juggle everything at once. I HAVE worked on some new models that I'm looking forward to finishing up and releasing to you all, but have just struggled to find the time/energy to finish them and get them released in the midst of the moving madness.
I very much apologize for not at least communicating with you, but I always fear coming on here with "excuses" rather than new models for you. You're not here for excuses, you're here for fun new models to print and that's what I'm here to give you!
All that being said, I have finally arrived in my new home and begun getting settled in. I've had a couple days to rest/recover, get a few things setup, and am more than ready to get back to work! Although making the move itself took so much out of me, I am now in a much better living situation that I know my mental health will thank me for. I'm more excited and motivated than ever to create!
For those of you that have stuck with me and continue to support me, I appreciate you more than you know and I am more than committed to making it up to you! I've got a lot of ideas that I'm excited to bring to life, and a great new maker space to make it happen in.
THANK YOU to anyone that has made it this far, that was a bit long winded but definitely overdue. I am going to wrap this up and get back to setting up printers so I can finish prototyping this new fidget!
If you're still here could you do me a huge favor and comment below what types of models you're most interested in seeing from this Patreon? I always love your feedback and would like to gauge what everyone is most interested in seeing this year!
Thank you all again so much for your support and understanding, I'll talk to you soon!
- Jacob

2 files in 6 months?? Think it's time to suspend charging monthly fees until you can work??

2024-10-24 00:50:34 +0000 UTCI'd be interested in seeing your take on a handheld puzzle like the Russian nesting maze gift box or the Steampunk Maze Box from Tverse.

2024-08-19 14:18:34 +0000 UTCDifferent designs for dice towers would be nice. Articulated animals seems to be pretty popular right now as well. More pokeman designs

2024-03-07 13:16:17 +0000 UTC1000% agree, the more annoying boxes in different formats the better my absolute favourite product.

2024-02-19 04:01:39 +0000 UTCI'm dreading a move here in a couple of months, so I feel your pain!! Glad you're back! Anything Cana related, like dab sick/pen holders, orginizers, ect...

2024-02-18 03:12:11 +0000 UTCHappy you are back and able to have made some changes! We are still here! That being said, I'd love some piggy bank simple prints. I have a booth in a flea market type building and I think piggy banks could be a cheap easy print to sell. I know there are the "annoying ones" but I'd be good with regular ones too!

2024-02-14 14:14:38 +0000 UTCWith how much you gave so many this past holiday season (I can't be just talking about myself), I'd be more than happy to support you for years w/o anything new ;) Glad you're in a much better place. That's the most important thing!

2024-02-14 10:36:14 +0000 UTCHappy to know you're ok! That's most important! My mental health has been on the struggle bus lately too, so I can definitely relate. You know me all things planters and I also love the storage cases and candy dishes!

2024-02-14 10:35:39 +0000 UTCGlad you're doing well! Something similar like similar to the annoying box or functional items they've always been super popular :)

2024-02-14 04:13:21 +0000 UTCI like the fidgets, stuff that I can purge into to save filament and have a cool print. That and the flex is like the owl are cool.

2024-02-14 03:19:36 +0000 UTCAny profitable print I can use on esty 🤷🏻♂️

2024-02-14 03:07:20 +0000 UTCMoving can be a terrible hassle, glad its getting to the finish line! As for model ideas...the Dice Tower Lighthouse has been needing a Moat or catch for the dice :). Laptop or iPad stands, Pot of Gold for the Cauldron, some new Fancy Eggs and somthing to go in them, Easter Basket maybe, just spitballing here. Maybe a Pill Organizer, there was a contest on Maker World recently with that.

2024-02-14 02:06:05 +0000 UTCArticulated toys like Owlbert and stuff like the pokeballs or any multi-colour stuff that takes advantage of the Bambu AMS 👍🏻

2024-02-13 22:55:24 +0000 UTCGlad all is well! I love the different fidgets and keychain size is perfect. I'd love to see some controller holders or other semi functional display prints.

2024-02-13 21:33:22 +0000 UTCI know I'm probably the only one but anything spooky. I'm obsessed with the cauldron and bone teddy bear 😊
Ally Crawford
2024-02-13 21:23:42 +0000 UTCGlad you're doing well! I'd personally like to see more gaming and articulated things. I've got an idea that may be super niche but I think it would be a good seller!

2024-02-13 21:23:04 +0000 UTClove all your designs currently working on the challenge coin holder for a show im doing in a big military town. As i was downloading the diffrent branches was courious if you were goint to add one for the newly formed spaceforce

2024-02-13 20:47:57 +0000 UTCMoving sucks. Rock on
Trevor McIntosh
2024-02-13 20:46:17 +0000 UTCThank you for your words. I'm glad to hear that you're doing well and that the reason for your absence is - in my opinion - somewhat positive. The explanation or an announcement beforehand would probably have caused less "unrest", but I am happy for you and wish you a great life in your new home. Moving is tiring. Regarding the question of which model I want: It doesn't really matter, because I've liked everything from you so far. Personally, I'm more into practical things, but fun things like the Annoying Box are great too.

2024-02-13 20:39:29 +0000 UTCGlad you're doing OK, Jacob. I hope the move was a voluntary one, and not one that was forced upon you, and I hope things calm down for you so that you can get back to spending time with what you want. To answer your question, most of what I sell is fidget toys. Those seem to do well. I would love to see more.

2024-02-13 20:38:21 +0000 UTCGlad to hear the move went well and your settling in. Looking forward to some more awesome designs.. as for what . Absolutely no idea... I'll have a think
Lee Richardson
2024-02-13 20:37:28 +0000 UTCI am definitely more practical and unique designs. The missile challenge coin holder has become probably one of my top ten favorite files ever!

2024-02-13 20:37:11 +0000 UTCFunctional pieces. All of your functional pieces (boxes, pokeball game case…) have been huge hits! I personally love practical functional items over “toys” (nothing wrong with those though). I would love to see more pokeball versions.
Eric Brooks
2024-02-13 20:37:08 +0000 UTCCash/gift cards probably. Those sell well. Really elevate gifting of those
Dylan Brennan
2024-02-13 20:36:43 +0000 UTCAn idea basically around some of the Amazon packaging. We get so much cardboard when we buy our filament and everything else that repurposing that in some shape or form could be fun
Makoto
2024-02-13 20:36:06 +0000 UTCYou're annoying boxes have been a hit with friends and family. Different varieties of them would be pretty cool. Maybe an idea worth exploring is a modular annoying box kit that we could combine with cardboard box to make it less plastic intensive to create a large box while still being able to pester an annoy the ones we love.
Makoto
2024-02-13 20:35:16 +0000 UTCThanks for the great feedback Steven! Speaking of the maze tube puzzles, I'd love to come up with something in that regard!

2024-02-13 20:34:50 +0000 UTCFirst off glad you’re doing well. If I remember right you were moving to MO? Absolutely love it there from stl to the ozarks to Branson and everything in between. I guess I’d have to say I’d go with more pokeballs! I don’t even like Pokémon but I found your Patreon looking for one for my bosses kid, and now I’ve printed all of them for my wife (also a mo native). I tried to mesh a love ball together in fusion but I have no talent for it. Idk why but I’d print every single one!
pwnytrix
2024-02-13 20:34:02 +0000 UTCI've got a St. Patty's design i'm getting started on, and in the early stages on conceptualizing some Easter stuff. I'll definitely be doing some more annoying box-esque stuff a little later as well!
ThinAir3D
2024-02-13 20:33:30 +0000 UTCGreat to know you are ok and to see you back Jacob. Do not stress about needing time for yourself. Having been down that road I know it’s a journey and it isn’t a short one. As for what models I would like to see, I am always looking for the annoying gift boxes. What you already have are great and any changes or new designs are always welcome. Even something like the maze tube puzzles that are out there would be awesome as well. Basically anything that could be used as a gift box is what my customers are looking for. Again take the time you need to get yourself settled and in the right space. That’s more important than churning out models. Take care and can’t wait to see what else you can come up with

2024-02-13 20:33:19 +0000 UTCGlad to hear things are going to better for your mental health! To answer the question for me it has been holiday themed stuff.

2024-02-13 20:32:16 +0000 UTCI do love designing those, and would love to make more. I'll add it to the list!
