Poland builds Alliances

In this part of the series we examine how Poland engaged it's neighbours in Central Europe during the 1990s. How it built close relations with the Czech Republic through contacts among dissidents. How Poland overcame historical legacies of conflict with Lithuania by helping the Lithuanians in their struggle for independence. And how initial difficulties in the German-Polish relationship in the long term helped facilitate the Polish-American friendship.

Great video but i have to say that it felt heavily biased towards the Czech perspective, especially in the section about Czechoslovakia–Poland relations. Slovakia was portrayed merely as a region of the Czech Republic, and all the credit was given to the Czechs. As a Slovak who grew up on the Slovak-Polish border, this oversimplification is disappointing a bit and creates weird feelings. I would appreciate it more, if you didnt refer to czechoslovaks as just czechs.

Great video : )I really like the "hiking and beer trip" note as a czech thing :D I didn't really know about these links of disidents, so now I just ASSUME this is mix of: - hiking trips (that's why we have so many marks on the trees specially done by these hiking groups for them and public :) ) - "spent weekends and free time in summer-cottage with friends or family" tradition, which was started as a way to get privacy outside of regime controlled space, away from a secret police I think that might be quiite correct ;)
