WIP

I've gotten together all of the files needed, there is a total of 31 item folders (Note this has since changed in the updates below, there are more files). Some of them are items that can be liberated from each other, so there will most likely be more than 31 items total. I've gotten the files for the record bins as well and record player stuff, in case anyone wants to use this set for making a recording studio. I believe I will be able to make the pianos, and the violin functional (*and guitars). Above is the first item I'm trying to get working properly, the upright street piano. As you can see in the gif, the size needs to be readjusted a little but it looks pretty cute in game. The base item used to make the upright piano is the City Living keyboard, so this item will require City Living. Do we want a decor version that is non-functional but base game compatible? The seat the Sim is using is the original one from the TS4 keyboard, I'm going to remap the mesh a little so that it's black instead of what it looks like right now. I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend! 💗💗💗
Update (continued):
Just updated the preview gif with the fixed upright piano. I think I'm going to have to make a folding sign advertising dueling pianos for the local Sims bars and hangouts ☺️
Update (continued):
I have been messing with the grand piano and the violin, trying to make them functional. They have 2 mesh groups and image textures each, whereas the in game ones that I need to use as a base need only 1 mesh group and image texture for each item, so I am going to have to make new image textures for those two items and remap them in order to make them work. I have moved on to other items for now and saving the more complicated ones for last. Above is a pic of the sampler. Also a correction, there are 36 item folders, and more items will be added by doing some liberating of clutter.

Update (Monday afternoon):
I got all of the image textures enlarged and mostly improved, above is an example of an original texture and my new one with higher detail (it's one of the electric guitar swatches). What I do here is not simply making the image a larger size, for if I did that it would look exactly the same on the object. The images are given sharper detail so as to look better, and more detailed & crisp in TS4. Next, I double checked to make sure I've gotten all of the item files together, I had forgotten about a few of them. There is a total of 10 items I am attempting to make functional, that coincide with TS4 functional instruments (pianos, violins, guitars, and keyboards). There are 38 total item folders. I've also made the effects rack, it is a surface for placing things that also can be placed on other surfaces, in case it needs to be placed in a band trailer or other. I've added extra recolors to the sampler and the effects rack.
Update (Monday evening):
Added a few more items, the headphones, a wireless version of them (swatches in gif above I've added a few extra) the music book stand, and the cello.
Update (late Monday night):
I thought the Mix Master Music Station from Get Famous would go really well with the set (it's BGC) so I decluttered it, and I'm trying to add a blueish edge like on IRL glass tabletops (I really love the glass tables). It just needs a small adjustment, as you can see in the image above I just need to move the color blue area in a little bit, it bleeds a little too far to the table surface. I will make that small adjustment tomorrow and add some more swatches, since it's after 1 am and I should go to bed. I hope everyone is doing well 💗

Update (Tuesday morning):
I was woken up incredibly early this morning by people doing renovations so I just made some coffee and got back to our set. Here we have the Mix Master table, decluttered and size adjusted, with added recolors since the table only has one swatch. I fixed the border of the color blue area that I was talking about in yesterday's update. Next I made the timpani drums, and made 2 extra files of the 2 drums as single items. I made the guitar case, and a stool that is a piano seat in ACNH, but since I used the TS4 default bench for the functional upright street piano, this seat is a normal seat. It can also be placed at a dining table. I also made the floor monitor, it can function as a music player if turned on.
Update (Tuesday noonish):
Added 2 tambourines, a table version and a wall decor version. Added the amp in 3 different sizes, large, medium, and the smaller practice amp size. They also function as music players if turned on. They have a slot so that they can be stacked.
Update (Tuesday evening):
I had to take a little break from creating for a bit to tend to IRL things, but now we have 5 more items: the thumb piano, the pan flute, 2 versions of the metronome (one with the clicker out, and one with it in) and the ocarina.

Update (Wednesday noonish):
This morning I made the wooden fish instrument, and liberated the mallet so it is two separate items. I also did the pedal board. There are 2 swatches for each color, one with the little red lights on and one with lights off. There are 28 done files so far.
Update (Wednesday early evening):
Added the marimba, and working on the drum set, was having an issue with the texture repeating on the bass drum skin, but it's fixed now. I'm just adding the rest of the swatches, this will be an easily recolorable item for putting anything you want on the front of the bass drum, which is pretty fun ☺️ (added a gif of all the swatches)
Update (Wednesday evening):
Added the record box and the portable record player. The box is made the same way as the drum set, allowing for easy recolors for the stickers. The record player is a functional music player.

Update (Thursday afternoon):
My next item that I was excited to get done rather quickly was the turntable, to be a functional music player like the portable record player. I am now stuck trying to figure out remapping because there is an issue with the mesh. The first image above is the ACNH thumbnail, it is what the item is supposed to look like (this is the pink swatch). The next image is what I have imported into Sims 4 Studio. The mapping is very incorrect, I have circled the areas in red. The next image is the object in Blender, with the mapping shown on the left. The red circles indicate where the object is missing vertices for some reason. I am able to often fix this on simpler items, but I am having a hard time here because I have to guess where on the texture image things are supposed to be and it is quite incremental. I will let you all decide what I should do about this item, should I keep messing with it or should I set it aside for another set so that I can keep working on the other items? (I don't want you to have to wait too long since this set is quite large) Please let me know, I will set it aside on my desktop for now, and if the consensus is that it is wanted in this set I will pick back up on it. For now I will move on to the wind instruments 💗🌬
Update (continued):
Moving on! Here are 2 versions of the clarinet, with and without the stand.
Update (continued):
Added 4 versions of the saxophone, an alto & tenor, and lying down versions of both that aren't on a stand.
Update (continued):
Added 2 versions of the trumpet, on stand and no stand, lying down. 2 swatches for the trumpets. We have 39 files so far, so I have another question: Should I make a post tomorrow for what we have here so far, then continue with a part 2 immediately after, like I did with the Fair/Carnival set? It is just a matter of if you all would like some things to be posted, or if you'd like the whole set at once. Just let me know ☺️
Update (continued, Thursday late night):
Added the electronics tools (it just goes with the electric stuff too well) and the snare drum, 2 versions: on the stand and by itself like the other stand instruments. Right now it's getting pretty late, so I will again pick back up tomorrow. Please do check the previous note and let me know about the posting. (we have 42 package files so far) 💗

Update (Friday early morning):
This morning I made a poll about this set and how I should go about posting it. Next I made liberated analog reels from the analog player in the mini set from last November.
Update (continued):
Added another version of the PA system from the New Year's Eve set, this one has no stand, deco size 2 and has a slot, so it can be stacked. It functions as a music player if turned on.
Update (continued):
Added the phonograph, it is a functional music player. Added an extra swatch for lighter wood.
Update (continued):
Added another piano bench seat. It is just a chair/seat. It has a bunch of swatches, and I added a couple extra.
Update (continued):
Added the "dueling pianos" sign (simlish) for putting outside of bars and such. For anyone who has never heard of dueling pianos, here is an excerpt from offthewagonrocks.com: "If your musical tastes run anywhere from "Sweet Caroline" to "Piano Man" to "Baby Got Back", you’re going to love dueling pianos. In this musical feast for the senses, two piano players face each other and take turns singing. It’s a battle to the… well, to the entertainment of the crowd. The show can be all- or partial-request, and songs are masterfully executed by professional musicians. And if the pianists don’t know it, you can hum a few bars and they’ll fake it. But they’ll probably know it. Dueling piano shows hit the scene in the late 1890s. Ragtime musicians “dueled” to see who could play better and faster to get the feet pumping. One of the first clubs to feature this type of show was Pat O’Brien’s Bar in New Orleans, opened in 1933. Two players entertained on copper-top baby grands, taking turns singing tunes the audience requested on cocktail napkins. The format caught on again in the 1980s, and new sounds were introduced. Heavy on contemporary rock and roll, musicians also ad-libbed, made lyric substitutions, injected humorous bits, and involved the audience. It’s more than music; it’s an experience. Today, the pianists work together to wow the crowd and get them to sing along and enjoy. Genres have expanded to include country, hard rock, and rap. The range of possibilities is endless! The musicians come from all walks of life, but one thing they have in common is the ability to think on their feet (even while sitting on at the piano).

🎸 PART 2 🎸

Update (Saturday afternoon):
Part 1 of this set has been posted. This morning I have messed with the acoustic guitar for a long time, and googled things, trying to get it functional. I have run into a hiccup with the guitars, and probably the violin too, due to something extra with the mesh (images above for reference). I was really excited for more functional guitars, and I feel a bit silly because I should have expected this, it is the same issue as with the espresso maker for the Coffee Stuff Set. The sim will not be able to interact with the object they are meant to pick up without this "bind", and it is something that I am going to have to add to my little list of things to figure out. Nevertheless, I have made the acoustic guitar into 3 decor versions: wall decor with a holder, one on a stand, and one by itself that can lean against something. I will add a note to the part 2 post for any other creators who know more about this bind thing, if someone would like to make the guitars functional then they are more than welcome. And if I figure it out first I will make them. The objects this will affect are a bass guitar, electric guitars 1 & 2, and a violin.
Update (Saturday evening):
Added the bass guitars decor, same 3 types as the acoustic guitar: on a stand, a wall version, and a version by itself that can lean against something. All of the guitars have a bunch of swatches, I've added some extra as well.
Update (Saturday evening continued):
Added the electric guitar 1 in the same 3 types as the bass and acoustic: stand, wall, and by itself.
Update (continued):
Added the second electric guitar, the hollow-body. I still need to make the wall and non-stand versions, but it is a little after 10 PM for me here, so I will pick back up again tomorrow morning. I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend! 💗
Update (Sunday early afternoon):
Finished the other 2 versions of electric guitar #2.
Update (Sunday early evening):
Added 3 versions of the violin, on the stand, off the stand leaning up, and off the stand lying down. There were only 3 original swatches so I added 5 more. There was also no bow so I added one of those too.
Update (continued):
Added the synthesizer with extra swatches. It is functional. I will also be adding a decor version with no seat, like a display for a store.
Update (continued, Sunday evening):
Added the other upright piano, this one has a notes book on it, and it has 4 swatches. It is also functional. I have just a few more items to add for part 2, but right now I need to cook dinner and catch up just a little on some household things. I might be able to add a couple more items tonight, but should be finishing the items tomorrow! I hope everyone is having a nice day/cozy evening, depending on where you are in the world 💗

Update (Monday afternoon): Today I have been working on the grand piano and it was a bit complicated. The only thing that I need to fix now is to adjust the size where the keys are, as you can see in the image above, the sim's hands are going inside of the keys, so I will be fixing that.
Update (continued):
I did the size fix and lined it up better with the EA keys. Gif above.
Update (continued):
I am attempting now to make the microphones functional but have run into the issue of the microphone turning into a different microphone when the sim takes it, it is something I need to look further into like with the other items that have a "bind" where the sims can pick up the item. Gif added above. A big part of this problem is that I do not know how to access the meshes for the items that go into the sim's hand, which is why it changes to a different mic. I probably have to make the two microphones as decor objects for now, and will offer to other creators with more knowledge to make them functional if that's something anybody out there wants to do. Otherwise, once I figure it out I will go back and make a little set of the items I had wanted to make functional for the music items.
Update (late Monday night):
Remade the microphones as decor objects and added more swatches (there was only 1 original swatch for each). I was trying to think of anything else I could add, and ended up adding some drum sticks, and also a jar with some drum sticks in it. Tomorrow I will take pics and get part 2 posted 💗

Update (Tuesday noon):
I thought to add one more type of item, some empty stands from the instruments. Above is a pic of 3 of them, I'm just going to add one more for the wall and get ready to post part 2. I hope everyone is having a nice day.

Ohh 🥰 thank you! It means so much to me! I'm so glad that you're having fun with the CC! If anything goes awry with any of the functional ones in part 2, I will make a note in the post that if there is someone who knows more what they are doing that it's open for editing, of course. I'm working on images for the post for part 1 right now ☺️
