Codename 'Vladimir' SCP reveal - this will be our first game!

Hey everyone. We wanted to give you guys one last update before this month is over. We know you have been waiting to hear what we have planned for our first game. You’ve seen some of the concept art that Pixel drew up, now how about some exciting details!

The SCP we were thinking having our first game based around is none other than SCP-450. You can find the link here: http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-450. This is a location SCP inhabited by hostile spectral entities. Here is some of our first concept art depicting what we might want them to look like:

The core idea we are planning to base our gameplay loop around is the complex pattern drawn to secure the SCP. You will play as someone stumbling upon SCP-450 and get trapped inside. To leave, you need to decipher the pattern by finding clues while evading the spectral entities.

We plan on two distinct gameplay elements. First, the player finds the clues while evading the hostile entities. Second, the player puts the clues together to create the pattern in a safe environment. As mentioned before, we are planning on a simple, but scalable gameplay loop. This will allow us to add as many areas or elements to the puzzle as we need while allowing for a clear end.

Ideas we are looking into are the concepts of puzzle elements, impossible and inconsistent topology, physics elements, stealth, deterministic game behaviors (AI profiles, predictable consequences, cause and effect), and using audio to drive gameplay (Thanks to Corvus).  Of course we will have to play around with all these to get the right mixture — creating balanced and consistent gameplay is very important to us! Once again, thank you for your support and let us know what you think! We wanted to put these ideas down on the table for you guys to digest.

One last thing, we would like to leave you guys off on some mood board images. These are pieces that speak to us and will help us determine the tone and direction of the game.
