Tuesday Update

At the 0:49 mark, I show some of the work I saw at MOCA Georgia. The artist is Kevin Cole and the show is: "Where Do We Go From Here?". The theme of the show is voting rights. Something I'd believed was no longer an issue in the United States. Recent elections have shined a light on voting rights and suppression that I hadn't realized still existed.
At the 1:15 mark, I share a video of work I saw at The High Museum. It's called, "Climate Crisis, Variable Font". By Eino Korkala and Daniel Coull. The font is described as: "providing a dynamic visualization of climate change by correlating the data about the shrinking Arctic Sea Ice from 1979 to 2050 with the weight of the typeface. In other words, as time moves on, the icecaps continue to melt, and the font morphs into illegibility."
It wasn't until I'd finished editing this Tuesday Update, that I realized the thread running through it. The use of font as art. It ties together the pieces that I saw at the museum as well as the progress of made on my own piece (around the 0:28 mark in the video).
