Sewing, dying, photo shoots, and album covers!
The past few days have primarily been used for sewing. The traditional skirt of the southwest must undoubtedly be the broom skirt. I made one in a solid white cotton muslin, then it sat in a dark blue dye overnight. It's hanging on the line to dry now. It had an excess of dye, and took many, many washes until the water ran clear. The blue is a unique one. Unlike most colors I can find on garments in stores. I find this very satisfying!
To go along with a lovely blue skirt is a pretty little petty coat/slip to be worn under it, with a nice lace trim on the bottom hem. Also sewn in the past couple of days.
I have had some fun previously creating and designing faux record covers. Today, given a new commitment to learning traditional Hispanic folk songs, it seemed that a fun little record cover was in order.
Lastly, the photo shoot. In an incredible old, gutted gas station at dawn, I took advantage of the golden hour with some favorite bold fashion pieces!
