Chapter 131: Wreath
The ring approaches the Living Earth, and Su Tingyun's heart can’t stop pounding. Previously, she had unconsciously absorbed metal, wood, and fire, but this is her first time taking the initiative.
As her finger touches the ground, she feels as if the soil is breathing.
At that moment, a cool breath spreads from her fingertips to her limbs, making her feel incredibly comfortable. She could see the Living Earth decreasing at a speed visible to the naked eye. But it isn’t completely absorbed by the ring. Instead, about half of it remains in place.
The Living Earth can continue to multiply on its own, so it doesn’t need to be fully absorbed.
After a moment, Su Tingyun sees a wisp of earthy yellow color appear on the ring, but it quickly disappears. Only the red flame pattern of the Heavenly Fire remains. She doesn’t know the reason for this. Perhaps it’s because red looks good, or maybe the Heavenly Fire is a complete flame while the others are still small, and are still in the process of growing?
She’s not sure, so she can only speculate.
Next, Su Tingyun infuses her divine sense into the ring and discovers that the Five Elements Disk at the center now has a misty yellow gas, indicating success.
Now, it seems that she only lacks water to reshape her physical body.
At first, those small sprouts were just growing on the soilless floor, but as she reaches down now, she finds a thin layer of moist soil on the ground.
Even though she has only absorbed a small amount of the Living Earth, there’s unexpectedly so much of it inside the ring. Thinking about this, Su Tingyun's mood becomes extremely good.
Su Tingyun withdraws her consciousness from the ring and focuses her attention on the Snow Lotus. She notices that the root and stem of the Snow Lotus are still intact. Although the flower has been cut off, it’s still alive. She just doesn’t know how many years it will take for this legendary Snow Lotus to bloom again.
Looking at the cut stem, Su Tingyun uses her Spring Wind and Rain Art to infuse some spiritual energy into it. This kind of plant that grows in an extremely cold environment can’t be casually transplanted. It has barely managed to survive on its own, and if she ends up killing it while trying to raise it, it would be a great sin.
After performing the Spring Wind and Rain technique several times in a row, Su Tingyun reckons that this should be enough, and straightens her body. As soon as she stands up, she glances at the dead beast, and the wound from its side, and suddenly feels a strong sense of killing intent.
Her emotions churn, and a bloody scene of battle keeps appearing before her eyes. The Springwater Sword in her hand buzzes and vibrates, and the red glow at the tip of the sword once again moves away from its original position, dancing nimbly along the blade. The ring suddenly turns scorching hot, causing her fingers to feel a slight pain. The golden color on it becomes more prominent, shining brighter as if it wants to break free from the ring and fly out.
That sword intent, it resembles the sword intent of the Killing Sword faction.
For sword cultivators who practice the same sword technique, their sword intents are similar, though having their own unique characteristics. As the teachers inherit the same lineage, there must be some similarities.
Previously, on the Kunlun Divine Tree, someone mistook her Haoran Zhenqi Sword Technique to belong to someone called the Broken Sword Master. If there’s a possibility that this Broken Sword Master was the at the apex of the Haoran Zhenqi faction in the past, could the person who used the Killing Sword technique to cut off the Snow Lotus be a master from the Killing faction?
For thousands of years, the Obliteration Sword Tower wasn’t able to produce any powerful individuals. Su Tingyun suspects that the Broken Sword Master and this ancestor from the Killing Sword faction are likely from the same era. The Killing Sword technique and the Haoran Zhenqi Technique complement each other, so two such outstanding experts must have appeared at the same time.
Even though so many years have gone by, the lingering sword intent still resonates with her Haoran Zhenqi Sword. Su Tingyun forcefully suppresses the inner urge to clash with this sword intent. However, it seems to have provoked the dissatisfaction of the Springwater Sword. She shares a deep connection with the Springwater Sword, and when she senses its resistance, her expression slightly changes. She swings the sword diagonally, grazing past the Snow Lotus, and this brings some relief.
She feels a sense of forbidding fear. She has almost received a backlash from her own flying sword just now.
The Springwater Sword had previously severed her Little Uncle’s sword, and now it is so sensitive to the remnants of the Killing Sword intent. It’s really like what her Little Uncle said—they are natural enemies.
The commotion caused by that sword strike isn’t small. Despite Su Tingyun's efforts to deploy her formation barriers, it still triggers a large amount of snow to fly and roll. Fortunately, all this snow does not harm the Snow Lotus in the slightest. They swirl around the flower, never touching it. It truly has the ability to control the flying snow.
Although the Snow Lotus is unharmed, the remains of the spiritual beast behind it suffers greatly. It had split in half when Su Tingyun accidentally touched it earlier, and now, with the shaking of the mountain, the spiritual beast reveals its true form. Su Tingyun finally sees it clearly. This spiritual beast, covered and frozen in snow, with only its gleaming eyes fixated on the Snow Lotus, turns out to be a dragon.
It already has two protrusions on its head, and if it hadn't been killed by a sword strike, it could have potentially transformed into a flying dragon someday. This spiritual beast, although at the peak perfect Tribulation Transcendent stage, it has formidable physical strength due to its own innate physique and it had been practicing within the extraordinary environment of the snow mountain for countless years-- its strength is probably comparable to that of a Mahayana cultivator. Yet, it was slain by a single sword strike.
Seeing that it was about to ascend but encountered such a calamity, the lingering resentment in its heart would be hard to dissipate, its eyes remaining open in death. However, Su Tingyun doesn’t sense any trace of resentment in the vicinity, which is quite strange.
Those golden eyes are making Su Tingyun's heart tremble. For some reason, she feels a tinge of sorrow at this moment, and tears well up in her eyes as she gazes at the deceased dragon.
She sheds tears while looking around at the same time. What the hell is influencing her mood? Even if she does feel quite moved, she wouldn't go so far as weep for a long-dead legendary dragon, alright?
Subconsciously, Su Tingyun reaches out her hand to gently close the dragon's wide-open eye. She doesn’t have any hope that it will actually work, but to her surprise, as soon as her hand lightly touches the eye, it slowly closes.
Using the same method, she closes the dragon's other eye. Suddenly, her divine sense catches something beneath the massive spiritual beast. It's as if there’s a mysterious guidance or a voice in her heart, pointing her in that direction. Su Tingyun walks towards the area beneath the colossal creature, and there, she unearths a very large egg.
It’s an empty eggshell, broken with nothing inside.
