Su Tingyun isn’t good at breaking formations, but fortunately, there is an Orchid Tongue Grass there to guide her. She wanders around for a while, walking for a long time, and finally finds the snow peak. The snow mountain isn’t very tall, shorter than the surrounding mountains. But the wind and snow are too strong. Although she has a spiritual energy barrier to protect her from the wind and snow, the outside is a vast expanse of white, and she can’t even get a clear view with her divine sense.
More than that, she can’t fly.
Now, she can only rely on Big Bai. She doesn’t detect any trace of Upper Realm cultivators. Since this snow peak is so well-hidden, and Upper Realm cultivators can’t use their spiritual energy here, they probably wouldn’t be able to last here for too long. So, she confidently lets Big Bai take over, and enjoys the luxury inside Big Bai's belly.
Big Bai has thick skin, and is immune to the wind and snow, so she doesn’t bother to create a protective barrier. Her skin is the best natural barrier.
But Little Bai is different.
Although Orchid Tongue Grasses are naturally tenacious and can survive anywhere, Little Bai had been spoiled by Su Tingyun since it was young. Even when Bai Su picked it up, it was treated preciously. Even at the Obliteration Tower, the environment was comfortable, and it had never experienced such hardship.
It doesn’t want to show weakness, so it holds its breath and endures the wind and snow. Initially, it was fine when its body was shrunk. But Big Bai, in order to run faster, unexpectedly grows bigger and bigger. Its leaf blades also growing larger, and so, they are battered by the wind and hail, becoming somewhat limp. But how can it admit defeat? It figuratively clenches its teeth and holds on!
Big Bai didn't grow bigger to bounce faster. It's because, reaching halfway up the mountain, Big Bai sees a large patch of Orchid Tongue Grass. Happily, she rolls over and presses down on the grass.
When she rolls back after completing a circle, the Orchid Tongue Grass on her forehead is all askew. Su Tingyun hasn’t been paying attention for a while, but seeing Little Bai's condition now, she feels heartbroken, "Big Bai, stop! Look at what you've done to Little Bai."
Big Bai first comes to a still, then quietly stands in place amidst the raging wind and snow, gradually swallowing Little Bai back into itself.
"I forgot," Big Bai then asks her Granny softly, "How do you say an apology, Granny?"
"I'm sorry."
"Oh, I'm sorry," Big Bai lowers her head and nods.
Little Bai has been bracing itself to be ridiculed. But instead, it receives these words.
"It's alright," it says, "I'm tough."
Its weak leaf blades even tremble, resembling a guy flexing his biceps.
For some reason, Su Tingyun suddenly has the impression that Little Bai's voice had become somewhat lower than before, a bit more like a boy.
After the two reconcile, they continue onward. Su Tingyun remains focused, attentively observing her surroundings. Even though her divine sense is limited, she tries her best to look around, fearing that some monster might sneak an attack.
After all, the Sect Leader had mentioned that the Snow Lotus had guardian spirit beasts. But they have walked all the way to the mountaintop without encountering any obstacles.
On the other hand, Little Bai hoarsely says, "Those spirit beasts are all dead, and the Snow Lotus has been picked. But the soil is still here, no one has dug it up."
An Orchid Tongue Grass informs Little Bai of these things, and it relays the information to Granny.
"All the spirit beasts are dead?" Su Tingyun is somewhat shocked, and then Big Bai suddenly stops, her body sinking as if she has swallowed something.
Although Big Bai clearly swallowed something, Su Tingyun can’t see it at all. But then she watches Big Bai take out a Divine Tree branch and place it on top of that 'something'. The leaves of the Divine Tree were originally blue, but now they are faintly purple.
Don’t tell her there’s a red object underneath? Mixing blue and red will create purple, right?
She focuses her gaze, but still can’t find anything. It must be because the strength of her primordial spirit is lacking. However, Big Bai is in the Tribulation Transcendent stage, and her spiritual consciousness is stronger, so she can see. In other words, there are invisible creatures here.
"It's the corpse of a red spirit beast, already dead and very stiff," Big Bai says, "Granny, can't you see it?"
"Granny, your eyesight is poor."
Su Tingyun: "Hehe."
These spirit beasts are truly formidable. Her current divine sense is at least in the late Nascent Soul stage, but she couldn't detect them at all. If they were to attack, she would definitely be caught off guard.
All these powerful spirit beasts, and they're all dead?
Big Bai continues forward. Before long, Little Bai says, "Here it is, it's right here. Look, there's even a stem that’s been cut off. So that person just took the Snow Lotus without digging up the soil."
Su Tingyun emerges from within Big Bai's body, then walks to the location pointed out by Little Bai. Just as she gets into place, she suddenly feels a chill in her heart, as if a fierce beast is staring at her.
She draws her Springwater Sword and, without turning around, strikes out with a backhand. The sword light cleaves through the wind and snow, revealing a gigantic spirit beast. It is massive, almost filling the entire snow peak. It is covered in thick snow except for a pair of eyes, the golden pupils making her heartbeat faster.
This is at least a Tribulation Transcendent stage spirit beast, likely at the peak of the of the realm, just a step away from Ascension. But it’s dead.
Even in death, it’s giving off an immensely powerful aura, showing just how formidable it must have been in life.
Yet, such a powerful spirit beast bore only a single sword mark on its body, a single strike to end its life.
Su Tingyun's Springwater Sword falls upon the spirit beast, causing it to collapse with a resounding crash. Its body splits in two and, as it hits the ground, the snow peak trembles, causing snow to roll down in large balls. This instantly drives Big Bai into a frenzy, as she chases after the snowballs all the way down.
Initially shocked, Su Tingyun is left speechless by Big Bai's actions. She turns her head and looks at the location of the Snow Lotus.
The Snow Lotus has been cut off, its flower plucked, and beneath it, there is indeed moist soil, not even covered by the accumulated snow.
This is definitely the Living Earth, capable of endless growth. The question is whether the ring would deem it worthy.
Excited, Su Tingyun moves her hand closer to the Living Earth.
