Promissory note, kinda

This is very late, and the initial cause was a medical emergency a few weeks ago (not me, but everything’s under control now, more info at the end).

This is a rambling apology, but I don’t know how else to do it…

I’m sorry for not even giving a notice, as it was a vicious cycle of: “If I’m gonna open Patreon, might as well finish the chapters and include it with the updates— but I don’t have the updates, so do it later— but I’m too mentally exhausted to understand Chinese, so I should open Patreon and give notice— but if I’m gonna open Patreon, might as well just finish the chapters… and repeat”

…I owe you all updates from chapters 111 to 112, i’ll put them on top of next month’s schedule. I’m sorry…

—details—

Anyway, my father had a heatstroke, which was extra dangerous because he had a heart attack a few years back. We spent a few days on rotation with ice treatments: the gold standard of treating a heat stroke. The reason we didn’t immediately go for a hospital, is that you’ll have to wait about 5hrs to see a doctor or get any treatment if you’re not actively bleeding to death, on top of the long travel, (we live away from the city). The emergency services here are not exactly stellar. We decided that the best course of action was to use that waiting time to administer meds, minimize paralysis, and blast him with AC and ice.

It’s only after stabilizing him for a few days when we finally took him to a hospital, where the doctor didn’t deem it necessary to admit him. There are still some complications left, most of which I’m not comfortable to disclose, but nothing serious or irreversible.

Thankfully, he has now regained movement on half his body, after losing it on his left side for about a week. After that, we just drove him for doctor’s appointments and rehab, updating meds, as well as processing the papers for his retirement— irrelevant to his heatstroke, but we were bracing for a large hospital bill at the time… (everything’s fine, his condition was under control, just some tests to run, no biggie).

Imma go back to work on the chaps now!!!

Comments

Hopefully your dad is doing better now, I can only imagine how stressful that has been and how hard it makes it to focus on other things. Thanks for the chapters!
