Book 2 : The Masked Strength of the Sect's Trash Chapter 106

At the mention of Lu Shaoqing, Sect Master Yu Chang’s face immediately darkened, a look of exasperation overtaking his previously cheerful expression.

“That lazy kid,” Yu Chang muttered with a tone full of frustration. “His talent isn’t any worse than Ji Yan’s, but his laziness is ten thousand times greater. Ten thousand times!”

Recalling Lu Shaoqing’s usual behavior, Yu Chang’s voice barely concealed his annoyance. “It’s been ten years! He’s been in Lingxiao Sect for ten years and hasn’t completed a single task for the sect. His contribution points are always negative! Thankfully, not many outside the sect know of him, or I’d be too embarrassed to show my face.”

Feeling his friend’s pain, Xiao Chuang tried to console him. “It’s alright; having Ji Yan is already a great blessing for the sect. Let’s not ask for too much.”

Yu Chang was silent for a moment, then sighed. “True. I can’t force it. I just hope that guy doesn’t corrupt the rest of the disciples.”

Xiao Chuang chuckled. “Don’t worry, Sect Master. With Shaoqing’s personality, if anyone bothers him, he’s likely to find them troublesome and avoid them.”

Despite his slight headache, Yu Chang added, “Your niece being in Tianyu Peak with Ji Yan should help her focus on her cultivation—hopefully she won’t pick up any bad habits from him.”

Both men knew exactly who he meant by “him.” Yu Chang felt that if Lingxiao Sect had another disciple like Lu Shaoqing, he might just go mad.

Xiao Chuang nodded, saying, “Don’t worry. I’ve already reminded Brother Shao to keep an eye on her. Besides, with Shaoqing’s personality, he’ll likely find Xiao Yi too much of a hassle to deal with anyway. She’s polite and well-behaved—she won’t be influenced by him.”

But no sooner had Xiao Chuang finished speaking than Xiao Yi’s voice echoed from below.

“Cang Zhengchu, you shameless old fossil!”

Xiao Yi’s voice was clear and strong as she thoroughly insulted Cang Zhengchu.

Across the distance, Cang Zhengchu’s aura spiked with rage as he retaliated against Shao Cheng with renewed vigor. Xiao Chuang was left speechless, stunned by his niece’s sudden boldness. Yu Chang’s expression soured even further.

“This tone…sounds awfully familiar,” Yu Chang muttered.

Realizing what must have happened, Xiao Chuang, a Nascent Soul cultivator, couldn’t help but curse under his breath. “Damn it, Lu Shaoqing! That lazy scoundrel! I’m going to kill him!”

He was so furious he almost leapt down to deal with Lu Shaoqing personally.

Meanwhile, Cang Zhengchu’s aura, flaring from Xiao Yi’s remarks, fueled his attacks against Shao Cheng, forcing Shao Cheng onto the defensive. Seeing this, Yu Chang muttered, “Let’s handle this later. For now, let’s stop this fight.”

After all, Cang Zhengchu was a guest and an elder of Guiyuan Pavilion. His actions may have been unsavory, but it wasn’t ideal to create more tension with him, especially since he was attending the Lingxiao Sect’s ceremony as a guest. If he suffered significant harm here, Lingxiao Sect’s reputation would suffer.

With a reluctant glance at the ship below, Xiao Chuang followed Yu Chang to halt the fight between Shao Cheng and Cang Zhengchu. Soon, the clash subsided.

Xiao Yi’s eyes widened. “It’s over? Who won?”

“Draw,” replied Lu Shaoqing. “With the Sect Master here, there’s no way he’d let them keep fighting.”

“Why?” Xiao Yi was dissatisfied. “That old scoundrel isn’t any good! He even tried to kill us. The Sect Master should’ve cut him into a hundred pieces!”

She emphasized her words with a chopping motion, which Xiao Chuang, hovering just above the ship, caught sight of.

He paused, feeling a pang of disappointment. How had his once gentle and well-mannered niece become so…aggressive?

“Because he’s a guest,” came Shao Cheng’s voice as he and Xiao Chuang landed on the ship.

“Master! Uncle!” Xiao Yi cried with joy.

Seeing that the three disciples were unharmed, Xiao Chuang couldn’t help but ask, “Are you all alright?”

Xiao Yi shook her head, indicating she was fine, aside from her slightly disheveled hair.

Shao Cheng conducted a quick inspection of Ji Yan, setting up a few barriers around him before returning to the others.

Lu Shaoqing, now alert, asked, “Master, where’s the Sect Master?”

Shao Cheng relaxed, seeing that his second disciple seemed fine, and replied gruffly, “He’s keeping an eye on Cang Zhengchu.”

Lu Shaoqing patted his chest with relief. “Good.”

He then turned a critical eye on Shao Cheng. “Master, if you’d been any later, you’d have been grieving over me by now. Why did you suddenly leave us like that?”

Shao Cheng, his face a bit flushed, mumbled, “I thought there wouldn’t be any danger, so I decided to return early. I didn’t expect you’d run into Cang Zhengchu.”

Xiao Yi, curious, asked, “Master, when did you start following us?”

Lu Shaoqing chimed in, “As soon as Senior Brother left the sect, Master secretly followed along, worried about his prized disciple facing some powerful enemy.”

He sighed dramatically. “Heartbreaking, really. The eldest disciple is a treasure; the second and youngest are…disposable.”

Shao Cheng scolded him, “Stop with the nonsense. What danger could there be exploring a secret realm with Senior Sister Xia Yu?”

Xiao Yi’s eyes lit up as she understood. “So, Master, you were worried about Senior Brother and secretly followed to protect him?”

Shao Cheng felt a surge of pride—his youngest disciple was so thoughtful, unlike his troublemaking second disciple.

He glanced at Ji Yan, muttering, “I never imagined Cang Zhengchu would stoop so low as to attack juniors. I’ll remember this.”

Lu Shaoqing shrugged. “Forget it, Master. Senior Brother will deal with him eventually. No need to trouble yourself.”

Shao Cheng’s face flushed again, knowing he couldn’t really take revenge on Cang Zhengchu. Meanwhile, Xiao Chuang shot a sharp look at Lu Shaoqing.

Noticing Xiao Chuang’s glare, Lu Shaoqing asked, “Elder Xiao, something wrong with your eyes?”

“Wrong with my—” Xiao Chuang fumed. “Who taught Xiao Yi to talk like that?”

“What?” Lu Shaoqing replied, feigning innocence.

“Don’t play dumb,” Xiao Chuang barked. “The insults she was shouting just now. Who taught her those?”

“Oh, those?” Lu Shaoqing shrugged. “I don’t know. Why not ask her? She seems to have a natural talent for it.”

“Clearly, it was you!” Xiao Chuang was unconvinced. His niece, once so polite, had never spoken like that before. Someone had to be responsible, and who else but Lu Shaoqing?

Xiao Chuang’s eyes filled with fury. “I’ll make you pay for this.”

Xiao Yi, nervous, spoke up, “Uncle, I…I thought of those words myself. Second Brother didn’t teach me.”

“What?”
