When Xiao Qun and her group woke up, they screamed in shock.
"Ah!"
Their clothes were disheveled, and their bodies were covered in bruises. They frantically checked themselves, breathing a sigh of relief when they realized nothing more serious had happened. Fortunately, they hadn’t been violated. If they had been, it would have been a huge loss.
Remembering what had happened earlier, Xiao Qun ground her teeth in anger.
"That bastard, just you wait! I won’t let you off!"
Today had been a day of utter humiliation for Xiao Qun. She’d been tricked by Lu Shaoqing into coming here, only to suffer terribly and almost lose her life.
"Big Sis, I want to kill him," someone said through gritted teeth.
But just then, someone else screamed, "Where’s my storage ring?"
"Mine’s gone too!"
As direct descendants of large families, they each had a storage ring, even if the space inside wasn’t vast. Xiao Qun instinctively reached for her hand and looked down—her storage ring was gone too. She nearly fainted on the spot. Everything she owned was in that ring.
"Where’s my ring? Where is it?" Xiao Qun screamed, frantically searching everywhere, but it was all in vain.
"Damn it! It must’ve been taken by Xiao Yi and that bastard!"
"What do we do, Big Sis?" The others were equally frantic. Losing everything they owned was a devastating blow.
Xiao Qun, more anxious than the rest, knew that as the granddaughter of the Xiao Family's Great Elder, her ring held far more valuable items than those of the others combined.
"Let’s go find the peak master of Tianyu Peak. We have to get our things back," she declared, her fury palpable.
Meanwhile, Lu Shaoqing turned to Xiao Yi.
"Are you sure you don’t want any?" Lu Shaoqing asked, his tone casual.
Xiao Yi was speechless. You’re asking me this, but why are you clutching your pocket so tightly, as if guarding against me? If you don’t want to share, just say so. Besides, I never intended to take any in the first place.
Rolling her eyes, Xiao Yi replied, "Second Senior Brother, don’t worry. I don’t want anything."
Lu Shaoqing’s face lit up with joy. "Really? You said it, so don’t regret it later."
"I won’t, I won’t."
Xiao Yi tugged on Lu Shaoqing’s clothes, urging him, "Second Senior Brother, let’s go. We need to get to the Sword Cave quickly."
She found this whole business of robbery and splitting the loot too embarrassing to even discuss. She wanted no part of it and certainly didn’t want to be associated with it.
Lu Shaoqing grinned broadly. Enjoying the spoils alone was indeed a delightful experience.
Before long, they arrived at the Sword Cave. Xiao Yi gazed at the cave, her face showing signs of fear. The explosion from last time had left its mark, both physically and mentally. She had almost died back then. Saying she wasn’t afraid would be a lie.
"Second Senior Brother, do we really have to go in?" Xiao Yi asked, clutching Lu Shaoqing’s clothes.
Lu Shaoqing gave her a disdainful look. "How old are you? Still clinging to my clothes?"
"What’s there to be afraid of? Just go in."
"But is it really safe?" Xiao Yi pressed, still worried.
Lu Shaoqing reassured her, "Relax, I’ve improved it. It’s not like Senior Brother’s half-baked attempts. I wouldn’t build something so shoddy."
Xiao Yi couldn’t help but think to herself that her second senior brother was even less reliable than her senior brother.
She asked him again, "Second Senior Brother, are you sure there’s nothing else I should know? Is it really safe in there?"
"Absolutely."
Xiao Yi took a step closer, staring directly at Lu Shaoqing. "Look me in the eye, Second Senior Brother. Are you sure it’s really safe?"
Lu Shaoqing hesitated briefly. "It... it should be fine. Anyway, even if something does happen, you won’t die. At most, you’ll be bedridden for ten days or so."
Xiao Yi felt like crying. "Should be? Ten days?"
Lu Shaoqing laughed, "I’m just messing with you. Really, it’s fine. Just go in."
But the more Lu Shaoqing tried to reassure her, the more uneasy Xiao Yi felt. She couldn’t tell when he was being honest or when he was joking, which only made her more nervous.
Xiao Yi wanted to cry, hoping it would make Lu Shaoqing tell the truth.
"Second Senior Brother, could you just be honest with me?"
Lu Shaoqing dropped his playful tone, speaking seriously, "Honestly, there’s no danger. You’ll be fine. Just go on in."
"Really?"
Lu Shaoqing insisted, "Can’t you see the sincerity in my eyes? Why are you looking at me like that? Your distrust is hurtful."
Xiao Yi was too exhausted to argue anymore. Given his track record, it was hard to trust him.
"Just get in there and focus on understanding the sword intent. If you can grasp it, you might break through to the ninth level of Qi Refining, or maybe even reach the Foundation Establishment stage."
Understanding sword intent so easily would be a miracle.
But at this point, Xiao Yi had no choice. She had to grit her teeth and press on.
"Second Senior Brother, I’m going in now. You’re sure it’s safe?" she asked one last time.
Lu Shaoqing nodded, "Just remember to concentrate. I’m much more gentle than Senior Brother, so there’s no danger."
With a resigned determination, Xiao Yi entered the Sword Cave, feeling like she was walking to her doom.
Lu Shaoqing chuckled, then found an open spot to sit down. With a flick of his wrist, several storage rings appeared before him—these were the rings belonging to Xiao Qun and her group.
"Heh, let’s see what we’ve got here."
The rings still held the restrictive seals placed by their original owners. However, aside from Xiao Qun, who was in the Foundation Establishment stage, the rest were only in the Qi Refining stage. For someone like Lu Shaoqing, who was in the late Core Formation stage, removing these seals was a breeze.
After rummaging through the rings for a while, Lu Shaoqing’s face twisted in disdain.
"Damn, they’re all this poor?"
"And they call themselves direct descendants of the Xiao family? All they have are a few spirit stones and barely any treasures?"
"Typical women—still fussing with cosmetics even after cultivating."
"If our little junior sister is this broke, and these women are too, then the Xiao family must be the poorest family in Qizhou."
Lu Shaoqing had gone through four storage rings but found fewer than three hundred spirit stones in total. The rest were just miscellaneous items, hardly worth anything.
Finally, he opened Xiao Qun’s storage ring. As he examined its contents, his eyes lit up.
"Hmm, there’s some good stuff here."
"Over a thousand lower-grade spirit stones—not bad."
"And two second-grade Spirit Gathering Pills, worth about five hundred spirit stones. Not bad at all."
"What’s this?" Lu Shaoqing pulled out an ancient, timeworn piece of animal hide.
"Could this be a treasure map?"
"Well, I’ll just keep it. If I don’t use it myself, I might be able to sell it for a good price."
After inventorying Xiao Qun’s storage ring, Lu Shaoqing grinned broadly.
"As expected of the Grand Elder’s granddaughter—she’s got some nice things."
