A Comic Curiosity

Lately when I've been working on comic illustrations, I have been wondering whether or not to include shading on the characters. I like including a lot of shading on the illustrations where I blend my characters with real-life photos, but I am not sure if the shading works on images with illustrated backgrounds. Please let me know what you think!

See the attached image to know what I'm talking about.

Thank you! I thought the same thing, I like them to look a little more "special", but I wasn't sure if it looked good or not. I don't mind the extra step, tbh I actually like doing it.

Thank you! I don't mind the extra work at all tbh, I just wasn't sure if it made things look better or not :)

I think the shading does help the illustration look more like a comic panel than a shot from an animation. Though I also realize that adds an extra step to the process, thus making things a little harder :P

I think it looks pretty good Especially that you not only use shadows but also brighten the areas that are hit by light Makes everything look a bit more lively If you don't mind the extra work i'd prefer the shading option
