Check out Bradley Hall's lesson and breakdown of Holy Wars. Ben Eller, Bradley Hall and Bernth are perhaps my favorite guitar lesson / content creators, with Ben and Bradley focused on cool licks and songs, and Bernth having more all around technique lessons. I am a Patr[e]on of all 3. 😊

This is awesome, uncle Ben! And your post comes at a very opportune moment for me... I just played a School of Rock adult group show at Arlene's Grocery in NYC last week, and Symphony of Destruction was part of our set list.
I did pretty well with the rhythm parts of the tune, but was sorely lacking in the Marty solo department. So, now I am going back over your video and guide here on this awesome solo, and going to learn it properly... some great and super re-usable licks in this solo, so absolutely worth learning this one note for note! TY!!

I would LOVE to see the breakdown of Holy wars! I have struggled with it for years now. So many different parts in that song.

I vote for Hangar 18. Countdown to extinción is in my top ten of Metal records.

Love the theory you discussed regarding Marty's solo... adding the notes to complete the chord that you are playing over... the solo almost writes itself...

Hook in Mouth would be an amazing alternate picking exercise!

The definition of using simple harmonies but the end result not sounding generic. Great composition on Mustaine's part (and whoever else contributed).
