First…great analogy, second my local pizza shop still has a jukebox and I love eating in there just for that reason.

2026-01-30 15:21:48 +0000 UTCIn yee olden days there was something called a Jukebox. Having this thing as a kid was great. Playing tunes on a Jukebox was life lesson in social dynamics. Because if you got to the diner and someone else had loaded up the jukebox with their tunes you HAD to sit there and patiently wait for the box to get to your turn. You listened to their music for free. music they put a quarter in for... Whether you liked the song or not. You waited for your turn. Learned a little lesson in patience and got to appreciate new music I never thought to try to listen too. Heard a lot of bad music too, but good with the bad. Now if the jukebox played music badly with blown out speakers or skips, THAT was something to complain to the staff about. But someone else's choices? Naw/ I just waited my turn for my music to play. Then jukeboxes disappeared and so too did those early childhood lessons.
