As some of you know, I (unfortunately) live in Iowa. While other states progress and move forward, Iowa has been taking 10 steps back.
Two bills, H8 and H9 have been officially introduced in the Iowa House.
The H8 bill is widely known as the “don’t say gay” bill, while the H9 bill will “out” trans kids in school. (please see the attached pictures for more info)
These bills will not only alienate and silence LGBTQ+ children and educators (like my fiancée), but it will put them directly in harm’s way.
My fiancée does not deserve to be forced back into the closet, nor should she be punished for supporting her queer and trans students in need.
Even if you are not from Iowa, you can still make a difference. This will affect MILLIONS. Please, for the sake of the children and their futures, contact the members of the Iowa House Education Committee and let your voice be heard. (link below)
