I'm glad you enjoyed the episode, and now you're halfway through the series! How I interpreted the whole night hunt debacle with the flute was that Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian agreed before the event started that Wuxian would use the flute to help the clan look more capable and stable, though I'm not sure Jiang Cheng was expecting Wuxian to go as far as capturing 30% of the prey. Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian's conversation in the forest is such a beautifully subtle scene, I seriously love that interaction with the question what am I to you, and the answer someone I can always trust. I believe there are different translations/subtitles to Wei Wuxian's line 'My life-long confidant' that range from whole-life confidant to lifelong soulmate! About Yanli and Jin Zixuan, the way I understand the relationship is that Yanli has always been attracted to Zixuan, since the first time they were engaged up til now. However, I think Zixuan's words and actions gave her (quite understandably, since he was a jerk to her) the impression that their engagement was not something he wanted, at which point the whole thing was called off (in the early episodes). That said, I think she's always hoped that maybe he reciprocates her feelings, which is why she keeps giving him more chances. The last scene with Lan Zhan and his brother refers to taking a man back for healing, but I believe even that would have implications, basically saying: I want to use clan resources and knowledge to help an outsider because he is important to me.
