An autistic woman has reportedly been left confused after being unable to gain employment based on what everyone has always told her “should” be easy for her.
Despite what she “ought” to be capable of, Kelsey Dacey, 30, has inexplicably found this line of reasoning to be ineffective during the application process and, in rare cases, first-round interviews.
Dacey explained: “I applied for an engineering job at Google, explaining that I’ve always been told I ‘should’ find maths easy, but they never got back to my email.”
“I then tried out for the local women’s football team, because I’ve always been told that it’s only sport and to stop making a fuss,” Dacey continued. “But apparently there’s no room for someone who ‘could kick a ball, if they actually tried’.”
Despite these setbacks, sources have claimed that Dacey remains undeterred.
“I’m not an astronaut,” Dacey added. “But I really ‘should’ be able to become one. As I said in my application to NASA, reach for the moon and you might end up among the stars.”
