today was my last day of full-time work. from now on, i will be working for "The Man" just one day a week. the rest of the time, i will be working for myself and for you, my patreon supporters.
this was a tough decision to make — i was fortunate enough to have a job i did not hate — but i was having a very difficult time balancing My Job with My Creative Endeavours so it kinda needed to be done. how many people get the chance to fund their life by making what they want to make? i couldn't turn this opportunity down. honestly if i didn't feel so indebted to the people at the company i work for, i'd have done this a while ago.
given the fickle nature of youtube monetisation, i could not have done this without your support. thank you. i will repay you by using my newfound oodles of time to create things i hope you like. this is now my full-time job, and i'll be treating it as such.
completely unrelated: i recently watched a certain popular show and thought it was laughable enough to, you know, have a laugh at. given that you are my benfactors, i'd like to hear if you're interested in my thoughts on other media, or if i should just stick to the ASOIAF world. there are a few topics about which i think i have things worth saying, so maybe i'll dabble regardless. idk.

Anyhow, as for TV shows I would suggest you make videos about, my taste tend to be as often as not outside "genre" television. My current favorite show of 2022 is the latest season of a show called "Atlanta" created by Donald Glover of Childish Gambino fame. I think it might be my favorite Television show since HBOs "The Wire". "Atlanta" is hard to explain, both funny and very weird. I love it and not because it is "set" -- sometimes -- in the city where I live. It does not receive the love it deserves or maybe it does. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places for opinions about "Atlanta" the series. I have heard it described as African American Surrealism, whatever that means. In general I prefer books over TV and movies. I have been reading the Dune series recently because I thought the Denis Villeneuve movie was amazing visually. I read the first Dune book when I was in high school. I thought it was dumb, but that was a very long time ago. I am old as sin, 62 years old! Yes I know... Reading the series, now up through most of God Emperor of Dune. I still think it is dumb, but fun. And conversely kind of smart. Anyhow, it seems that Alt Shift X and Quinn's Ideas are covering Dune very well. Obviously, I am a fan of ASOIAF. Perhaps less obviously I am also a fan of the first 4 seasons (and bits of other seasons) of Game of Thrones. To make my wordy comment short, you should make videos on whatever you want to talk about or make jokes about. Thanks for making this miserable world easier to laugh at.

As for what to write and talk about, Orange said it best. We subscribed and began supporting you for a reason. Your humour, quality analysis and composition are unique, and well worth the investment put in. I’m sure that whatever media and projects you wish to make videos about, or focus on, will be informative and entertaining in that same style and Glidus way, and we’ll support you in such pursuits. Ultimately, we want you to create content that interests you and which you find worthwhile. That’s the important thing.
