As a Canadian as terrible and disheartening as it is to say, I'm not even surprised he's free. I live in Northern Ontario - last year a guy who was put away for breaking his probation over 20 times and was away for aggravated sexual assault. He was deemed too dangerous to leave the jail for his court appearance so he did it over video.... he straight up told the judge not to let him out as he's just gunna do it again, he said it numerous times in the hearing. Judge decided to let him out with a surety instead. He's been back in jail a few times since but continues to walk even though he's made it clear he will reoffend and continues to add more victims to his list. It's absolutely disgusting. The Canadian justice system is a literal joke - it's extremely disturbing to know these are the type of people they just set free to ruin more lives. Absolutely unbelievable to say the least.

My fiancé has had to physically pin my arms and say “Your name is Cherie. The year is [year] You’re [age at the time of episode]. You live in [home] with our two dogs, [dog names] and your fiancé, [name]. You’re having a nightmare, but you are safe. They cannot hurt you anymore.” They had enough to nail him and didn’t.
