I appraised the tree that trampled the killer ants. I wonder if this tree is a magic beast… Looking closely, it has eyes and a mouth... It looks disgusting...

I felt like it stopped the ants in their tracks somehow and since its MP decreased so I assume it might have to do something with Earth magic. I decided to fight the death treant to see what it was like for a bit.

When I danced out in front of the death trent, its mouth moved. Then the muddy soil under my feet hardened and my feet were pinned. So this was what restrained the killer ants...

Against me who was unable to move, the death trent tried to trample me down as it did with the killer ants. I pulled out Thunder Sword and Salamander Sword and stabbed them into the soles of death trent's feet(?).

The sword was beautifully stuck in the center of the sole, and I enchanted Salamander Sword with Fire magic and ignited it inside-out the tree, it easily spread and I was able to defeat the death trent.

I hurriedly retreated from the spot and searched for signs of surrounding magic beasts with Search, and found that nearly 100 magic beasts had gathered near the death trent.

There was a very loud "vuun-vuun" sound...which sounded like the rubbing of wings... and it might have been bees...

When I stared closely at it from a distance, as expected it was a bee. There were about 100 bees less than a meter tall flying around. I've always hated bees. One flew towards me so I appraised it.

Race: Killer Bee

Threat: C-

Condition: Good

Age: 1-year-old

Level: 3

HP: 30/30

MP: 3/3

Strength: 15

Agility: 44

Magic: 1

Dexterity: 15

Endurance: 18

Luck: 1

Its stats is quite low but has a threat level of C-. It is probably poisonous then. And the fact that it is flying is also troublesome. Its agility value is also reasonably high so it seems difficult to land a hit. ...If this is a threat level C-...the orc general with the same threat level, would be a much easier win.

After watching for a while, I felt another group of killer ants heading toward the Forest of Death. As I approached, I saw the killer ants and that there were at least 50 of them. When that pack of killer ants passed by the trent I had just defeated, the killer bees attacked the killer ants en masse.

Stung unilaterally from the air, the killer ants were killed almost without resistance. It seems that the killer ant's acid attack can't even be thrown upwards...

I left the place slowly after the killer ants were annihilated so that killer bees would not notice me and returned to the fort. I wonder how should handle the killer bees... Although I feel that Tornado is the best way to go...

On the way back to the fort, I saw another group of killer ants heading toward the Forest of Death. I guess they will now be killed by killer bees again. Killer ants are the ones who get killed wherever they go. ...and on top of that I'm going to destroy their nests too, I'm starting to feel sorry for them.

I thought I had walked quite far but it only took me about 20 minutes to return to the fort. And the fort is piled with a lot of dead killer ant carcasses. RIP…

I got back to the group without killing a single killer ant heading for the fort. My return to the extended fort was just in time for everyone to wake up. The only ones who didn't wake up were Minerva, who must have slept late, and Ellie, as per usual.

I quickly took a bath and cleaned myself up before talking to the members who were still awake.

“Just now, I went near the Forest of Death. In the forest, I saw bees and tree magic beasts but the bee monsters looked quite tough and there were many of them. If the tree magic beasts are dealt with incorrectly, they could cause a terrible situation. Firstly, I would like to narrow down the members of the team.

Bram, Baron, and Dominic, could you stay here and guard Minerva? Minerva has been learning the chains technique earnestly from Margrave Isaac. You might misunderstand me when I say this, but Minerva is a good, hard-working girl. She can be a bit extreme in her way of thinking at times but...can I ask the three of you to do that?"

I asked Baron and he nodded silently, and likewise Bram and Dominic too.

“The rest of you will go with me to the Forest of Death but I'm going to change the formation. I'll take the lead, then Clarice, Karen behind Clarice, with Ellie and Misha on both sides of Karen, and Ryner in the rear.

This time we'll be really careful. We start by looking for a herd of killer ants heading to the Forest of Death. I'll have the killer ants to be our sacrifice. Also, we must definitely be back by nightfall as I'm not planning to go into the forest yet."

Apparently, they got the message that it’s dangerous there since I'm being overly cautious. For now, we decided to depart at four o'clock and return at seven o'clock and each of us was free to spend the time until then.

Everyone except Clarice has decided to go out and hunt killer ants. I don't want to fight with ants for the time being so I'm standing by. I feel like it's been a while since I've had any time alone with Clarice...and I'm a little nervous. ...then Clarice asked me.

“Mars, what are you going to do?”

“Well, actually I haven't decided on anything... I just don’t feel like killing the ants right now. Is there anything you want to do Clarice? If there's anything I can help you with, I'll help you?”

“I'd like to slow down and rest for a bit...since I've been fighting a lot lately...”

It's true that we've been fighting all the time...I'll try to relax as much as possible in November. ...as I was thinking so, Clarice sat down next to the couch I was sitting on from the seat across from her.

I think it's been a while since I've seen Clarice awake in a close-up. She smells as good as ever. And I'm getting kind of nervous...and sweaty and thirsty...I've never been like this before even though we've been together all this time and I've fallen to her...I want to make eye contact but I'm scared because I don't know how to react when our eyes meet. Clarice noticed something was wrong with me and grabbed my hand.

“Hey...are you okay? Your face is kind of red, do you have a fever?"

She looked into my face and put her hand on my forehead. Yes, I have a fever. I'm completely hot for you.

When Clarice looked into my face, our eyes met. I was embarrassed but I felt a little bit of a knot in my chest was lifted and I was happy just to see her eye to eye. But Clarice didn't know what I was thinking.

“You've got a fever after all! ...your hands too...are you okay? You've been working a bit too hard lately, haven't you? Let's take today off from going into the Forest of Death. It seems like a dangerous place if we’re not in perfect physical condition.”

Clarice began to touch my back in concern. She is probably checking to see how much I am sweating. As expected, I can't get Clarice's hands dirty anymore.

“Thank you. I'm going to have a quick bath then. If I still have a fever after the bath, I'll take the rest of the day off."

I decided to take a bath straight away. I thought I would be fine because I would calm down if I kept a little distance from her. However, Clarice, worried about me, was waiting for me after I get out of the bath so… In the end, Clarice forced me to take the day off.

Clarice used Heal on me a few times, but I know that Holy magic can't cure me. Clarice was upset that the magic, which normally has a certain level of effectiveness, didn't work at all this time.

“Thank you, Clarice. But I know the cause so you don't need to worry.”

“If you know the cause... It means you're not feeling well after all...”

Since she said it so worriedly, I nervously and honestly told her.

“I think I'm probably in love with...Clarice. I don't know, you seem to be somewhat different from how you’ve been...lately."

I said shyly, and Clarice answered me with a happy and embarrassed...also somewhat angry or maybe regretful expression on her face.

“T-thank you...but it seems I was quicker to fall in love with you...”

“I didn't see any pretense of that though...?”

Clarice replied below when I said above.

“Of course... because it happened when Mars was sleeping for 15 hours. ...I was watching you sleeping all the time and I got nervous too..."

I think that might due to some part of her being nervous from worrying about me? In a sense, it may be the suspension bridge effect...but it also explains why Clarice has recently improved her looks so much.

“Oh, oh, I’m sorry about that I guess? And thank you... how did you fix the anxiety?"

“Eh...? I,It's a secret...I can't tell you that...”

Hm? Her white face is turning red, you know? Could it be...this is...

“Yes, well... I understand. But it's going to be a problem if I don't fix mine so I'd appreciate it if you'd stay close by today."

I ended up spending almost the entire evening with Clarice. The pounding didn't go away but I got used to it. Halfway through the day, Minerva woke up and joined Baron and the others for an ant-hunting date.

Apparently, Baron and Minerva are back together again. We had dinner and decided to go to bed, and go to the Forest of Death tomorrow morning.

I took a bath too, and when I tried to go to bed, the person who had been sleeping all time was still sleeping in my bed...
