Chapter 82 : Forever

Two months have passed since then.

On that day, the world first saw the summit battle between the hero Onijima and the demon king Kiryu of Kuroyume, one of the world's leading filth organizations, to determine the strongest human being, with no exaggeration added. That's why Kiryu set it up otherwise. He with a collaborator from NDF arranged a situation where Gonda would come out directly.

Kouki knew who Hiro wanted him to meet and was trying to avoid meeting her but he agreed to do so after being persuaded by Teaser(Rumi) who knew who Bright was.

With the interweaving scenery of Tokyo Bay and the Rainbow Bridge in his eyes, Kouki walked towards the place where the person would be waiting for him.

He had activated his Silent Stealth just in case but he saw a man standing in his line of sight.

“...World Master.”

When the man in front of him, Hiro, activated his ability, the effects of Kouki's Silent Stealth was instantly cancelled out.

“Hoh...... you've become quite skilled at controlling your gift after not seeing you for a while, haven't you?”

“As if. Sure, I might be slightly more proficient now but it’s just your unstable mental state right now, no?”

Kouki approached Hiro. Then…

“The things up until now…… I’m truly sorry about it.”

Hiro also already knew the fact that Kouki was Bright. Furthermore, he landed on his knees in front of Kouki and pressed his forehead to the ground.

Hiro showed no sign of raising his head. If he didn't say anything at this point, he might stay on his knees forever or so Kouki thought and laughed a little.

“Raise your head. I'm here today as Suou Kouki. I'm not going to do anything to you right now. But, we can't be friends on equal terms anymore.”

Hiro looks up quietly. ‘We can no longer be equals’. He knew that but he was still shocked.

“I suppose the only thing left for you to do is to become an equal rival with me.”

At these words, Hiro opened his eyes wide and looked at Kouki.

“I told you, didn't I? Be strong. I've been bored lately, too, because I don't have anyone to fight on equal terms with. So, you better get strong and really be able to fight with me on equal grounds.”

Rivals on equal footing. They would no longer spend their days together as friends. But as an enemy, Hiro could tell that Kouki recognized him.

“I understand. Right now, though, I'm not sure I'm a match for you at all. Because Kouki is too strong. To the point, I wish you can stop being such a cheat.”

“Oh, shut up. For one, I'm surprised too. And also, your gift is also a cheat, isn’t it?”

When was the last time he wondered? When was the last time Kouki had such an honest laugh with Hiro?

However, Hiiro's face turned mysterious again. There was something he really needed to hear.

The two of them smiled at each other a little. They both felt as if the events of just two months ago had happened a long time ago.

There was a moment of silence……. And then, of her own accord, Fuka opened her mouth.

“……as expected, Kouki-kun is Bright……”

Kouki said nothing. He stared at Tokyo Bay. Fuuka took that as an affirmation to her question.

“I really wanted to ask you a lot of questions...but somehow, I don't care anymore. Just the fact that you're alive is all that matters to me.......”

Before coming to this place, Fuuka had made up her mind that she would never cry. However, even though she had only been here for a few minutes, her tear glands broke down.

Kouki was also prepared for Fuuka to ask him many questions, such as why he became a Bright? He was prepared to say as much as he could to Fuuka, but Fuuka's unexpected words left him speechless.

He wanted to hold Fuuka in his arms and comfort her, telling her that she had nothing to cry about and that it was all his fault. He was tempted to do that but knew he didn't have the right to do that anymore.

“I'll continue to live as Bright. Because...... we(Kuroyume) still have things to do. But when everything is over and when a future where I can live as Suou Kouki arrived... Can I come see you again?”

Kuroyume's purpose. It is an act that could be said to overthrow the nation. And the NDF, which Fuuka is a part of, is basically a national organization that is implemented to prevent that from happening.

Kouki also felt contradicted by what he had said. But he couldn't help but say it.

Fuuka cried for a while as she stared at the place where Kouki had been, and now gone.

After he’s alone, Kouki tightened his expression. There were no tears in his eyes.

Two months. This period of time removed the naiveness from Kouki.

He was no longer trapped by his feelings. He is ready to reap both Fuuka and Hiro lives without mercy for what he should do and what he would do.

That's why he knew that the words he had just spoken to Fuuka were a dream that would never come true.

On this day, Kouki said goodbye to his eternal rivals, Fuuka and Hiro, as Suou Kouki.

This concludes the controversial fourth chapter and the first part of the story.

Now, as we approach the second part of the story, I would like to take a short recharging period again. I'll be mumbling about the details in the activity report, so please bear with me as I try my best to twist and turn my brain to come up with a satisfying story and ending for the climax.

It's a bit long this time, but I'll do my best with some quiet talk in between, so I hope you don't forget about this series!
