Chapter 50 : Blood Soaked Confession

"NOOOOO!!"

"Aaa...Natsuko(Green)......"

As White's screamed, Red could only watch the scene dumbfoundedly in silence...

"His explosive strength when he gets cornered is amazing. But like I said previously, he doesn’t seem to have a way to turn the table once he was forced to go defensive. Well, it would be difficult to find a way to counterattack from the attacks of the three Nature Strangers."

Jiren, who had been staring at the battle situation, analyzed Bright.

"That’s quite the harsh assessment, isn't it? I mean, he's actually going to take down the whole Nature Stranger by himself."

"Harsh? What are you talking about? I’m evaluating him properly. As long as he trained for another year, he’ll probably surpass me."

...Red's anger reached its peak, and he stood up with all his might.

"Ooooooh! How dare you hurt Natsuko!"

Red, who had completely lost his cool, jumped at Bright, his entire body covered in flames.

"Hahahahah! Just charging in recklessly...don’t be stupid!"

The movement of those who lost their cool is nothing but an easy target for Bright. He predicted Red’s movement, dodging just barely at the last minute before firing an overlapping Invisible Slash in a straight line.

A cross shape mark appeared on Red’s abdomen. ...However, even then, Red did not fall down.

"I will...definitely defeat you! Bright!"

He barked ferociously, but his legs were barely able to hold his weights.

"Uuooooooohhhh! Bright!"

The flames from using up every last drop of his energy wrapped around Red's entire body. It was to the extent of self-damaging...

"You are the worst and strongest enemy of the NDF! I'll stop you right here... right now!"

"Huh! You talk about me like I'm the last boss... are you not worried about your own life?!"

"I'll gladly give my life if I can take you with me!"

"I see. That's great!  As expected of the hero praised by everyone. As expected of the Nature Stranger. As expected of the specialist I've always admired to be! As expected of the allies of justice!"

Bright praised Red as if he was making a speech. But the next moment...

"Dieeeee, Bright!"

Red launched a desperate attack!

"But! A hero who can't do anything is no hero!"

And Bright countered by splitting Red in half from the top of his head!

In the last moment, Red saw Bright's true face through his slightly exposed eyes, and he was convinced.

(I knew it, the boy previously? ...That boy...is...Bry...t.........)

Because of the close range, Red was able to connect Bright to Kouki. ...Only, the opportunity to reveal it was destined to never come again...

"Red ......you're lying."

"Nightmare... this is a nightmare..."

"...NOOO!!"

Witnessing Nature Stranger’s leader, Nature Red, being split into two, Blue who just regained his consciousness and the other members all lost their will to fight.

With Red's death, the battle against the Nature Stranger had come to an end...

However, Bright was also severely damaged. His heat-resistant suit was already in shambles. The Nature Stranger's attacks had been that fierce.

"Fuuuu….what's wrong? Have you lost your will to fight.... Fine then... I’ll take all three of you to meet your comrades who passed away first."

Bright thrust his sharp blade forward. He couldn’t care anymore if he exposed his gift to be the same as Kouki’s. In fact, similar to Bright, the rest of the surviving Nature Strangers were not concerned about that.

And the moment he tried to jump White's head for starters...

"Hm?!"

A spiralling blast of water pierced Bright's shoulder.

It's not Blue. Blue had already lost the will to fight.

Turning in the direction of the attack, there were about 20 people standing in a line. In the middle stood a soldier wearing a long coat that is only allowed to be worn by generals and above, presumably may have been the one to pierced Bright's shoulder.

(...how could he easily pierced my shoulder along with the bodysuit?! ...The one who just attacked... the one in the middle? ...His rank is Major General... He's hiding his face behind a full-face helmet, but judging from his body shape, he's a woman...)

"Are you that Bright I've heard so much about... It seems that you're the one who killed Nature Red and Green..."

"So what if it is? One is for payback, the other is just an idiot who charged to his own death. And while I'm at it, why don't I return you double the pain you just inflicted on me?"

"Don't you have a human heart? You killed a hundred soldiers the other day, and now..."

"What's wrong with killing my enemy? If one doesn't want to be killed, then don't come to the battlefield in the first place."

"......fine. Then I'll kill you this time..."

"Huh. Can you do that? Just a woman..."

"Don't make fun of me just because I'm a woman, okay?"

Bright and the female Major General both go into their battle stance. However, Jiren came jumping down from the second floor.

"Bright. These guys are the ‘Byakkotai’, a group of young and accomplished soldiers in the National Defense Force... It's not a good idea to face this many at once. Let's retreat temporarily."[1]

Jiren said to Bright. Certainly, it wasn’t wrong to say that they were outnumbered, but it was an excuse said in consideration of the damage accumulated on Bright.

"......Roger."

Although Bright was curious about that female general, his bloodlust had subsided considerably after killing Green which led to him complying with Jiren's words.

"Oh my? Are you running with your tail between your legs now?"

"Screw you. I'm just letting you go this time. If you don't want to die, you'd better not show yourself in front of me again..."

Jiren released the transfer stone into the air, and light enveloped Bright, Jiren, and Vendetta, causing the three of them to disappear in a flash.

"Transfer stone... This troublesome item that’s unique to Kuroyume. It's still under development by the NDF, but it's really a convenient item..."

The transfer stone is not an item readily available for general use. It's created by the people with teleportation gifts by Kuroyume’s filths.

The female Major General looked around the wretched place. The Nature Stranger was a symbol of justice in this country. She was shocked by the fact that two of them had been killed without much resistance.

She regretted it. She should have rushed here sooner, but the military had stopped her, saying it was okay because the Nature Stranger was on the way. Still, it was her decision to call the Byakkotai outside the mall just in case.

And when the combined attack of Nature Stranger was blocked, Nature White had sent out an SOS signal, and permission was hurriedly given for the Byakkotai to go out. It was a complete blunder by the military, who believed that the Nature Stranger would not lose.

"......eh? Those girls are…”

She found the two girls, Azusa and Haruka, who were tearing up in a daze in the corner of the venue, and decided to approach the two girls.

“It's all right now. The enemy has retreated…”

She put her hand on Azusa’s shoulder as she spoke to her gently. However, Azusa slapped away her hand.

“What do you mean enemy! It was you and the NDF who killed......Kouki!”

"........? Kouki is ......?"

The female general’s tone suddenly turned rigid.

“Kouki...didn’t do anything wrong, but why would you guys kill him without letting him speak a single word!”

"Wai…p-please wait.... The Kouki you said...you are not talking about Suou Kouki-kun..., right?"

“Why do you know Kouki?! That’s right, he’s my childhood friend Kouki!!”

The moment she heard Azusa's words, the female general stopped moving as if time had been stopped...

"What is wrong, Captain?”

The vice-captain of the Byakkotai called out to her. But she did not reply.

She then looked at the place where the magma had disappeared, the spot where Kouki had probably been swallowed. Then, there was a torn paper bag on the ground.

She wondered why. There was a feeling telling her that she had to pick up the bag. She picked up the bloodied paper bag.

Inside was a necklace with a design of wind and a message card....

With trembling hands, the female general opened the blood-soaked message card. There it was written...

’Dear Fuuka.

Thank you for always smiling at me. Please go out with me if you don’t mind.’

...and a rather unromantic confession was attached...

“It's a lie.... Because......this ......... like this......ugh..... ugh, ugh, uwaaaaaaaaaa!!”

After realizing what had happened, Mizutani Fuuka, the female Major General, fell to her knees and cried, clutching the necklace that Kouki must have bought for her.

TL: Okay, so Green is actually female and we finally know Fuuka’s exact identity although some might have guessed her faction long ago. I guess we're gonna go Romeo & Juliet or something.
