Chapter 12 : Kouki’s Change

"Good morning! Kouki!"

Morning. The usual walk to school, the usual Hiro approaching Kouki with Haruka and Azusa.

The moment he heard that voice, Kouki’s overflowing bloodlust almost leaked but he held it in with everything he had.

"...Ah, good morning, Hiro. Ijuin and Asakura too, good morning."

He returned the greeting with a refreshing smile.

Not only Hiro but even Haruka and Azusa were taken aback by Kouki's reaction. It had been a long time since Kouki had smiled.

"O,oh, good morning. ...Hey Kouki, what's wrong with you today?"

"What's wrong? What do you mean?"

"Because, you don't usually smile like that, do you?"

"Is that so? I'm sorry about that. I too, feel like I can’t just sit still and wait for my gift to manifest. I decided to try to live my life a bit more positively."

While Hiro was subtly disappointed, the two troubles who felt it’s strange asked Kouki.

"That's rare… I didn’t know that even an insensitive person like you can actually smile like that..."

"Hey, wait a moment! What's really wrong with you, Kouki! Did something good happen to you?"

Hiro is ultimately only pretending to be interested as his childhood friend but the current Kouki can see through him. That there are anger, and suspicion mixed in.

Hiro still wanted to know what had happened but Kouki avoided his question suitably as he walked along until he saw Fuuka standing in front of him.

"Ah, good morning, Suou-kun! Sanada-kun, Ijuin-san and Asakura-san too."

With her usual model-like beauty, and bright smile, Fuuka greeted them. She too at the very least has a good impression of Kouki. However, Kouki remembered that Hiro took all the good spots from him.

(Now that I think about it, this bastard probably got in the way yesterday purposely too… Alright then)

"Well, Suou-kun, yesterday..."

"Good morning! Fuuka-chan! You look beautiful today too!"

As expected, Hiro interrupted Fuuka, who was about to talk to Kouki.

"Huh? Ah... thank you for the compliments."

Kouki who saw this scene, he thought again...as expected he is doing it purposely. He resolved himself so that it wouldn’t be the same as before.

"Fuuka-chan, will you be having lunch with us again today-…”

"Really?! I'm glad~. Ah...then if you are alright with it...and only if you don’t find it annoying, can I prepare Suou-kun’s tomorrow share as well? I live alone, so even when I cook, there's always a little leftover..."

"Seriously? Wohooo! I'm looking forward to it then! Also, you can just call me Kouki."

"Ou! I don't mind if you call me without the honorifics though. Now, let's go quickly or else we'll be late!"

Hiro etcs stared dumbfoundedly at the two of them walking away in their own world.

"...somehow, today’s Kouki, reminds me of his previous self..."

"I may not know the previous him but he doesn’t have his usual gloomy vibe."

Azusa and Haruka were also surprised, but they seemed to have a better impression of Kouki.

Meanwhile Hiro clicked his tongue at the two of them….
