Just got around to listening to this, and amidst the horror of the incoming kakistocracy, I was struck/amused by the "jagoff" discussion. Regional term in Pittsburgh/Chicago for a contemptible jerk -- similar to "jerk-off" or "wanker". (I've also heard from Canadians in Toronto that they also use the word, so it seems to be pretty well know around the North/Midwest American landmass). https://www.yajagoff.com/whats-a-jagoff/ My guess (and that's all it is) would be that the disdainful application to JAG officers came about because someone familiar with the regional term noticed the convenient similarity to "JAG off(icer)", rather than two independent derivations.
