Let's hop right into it, shall we?
Was expecting this to be a very dry month on the Patreon, but luckily(?) the scammers helped me make a new thing! So thanks, scammers?
The Scam Slam Jam was a surprise project that ate a little bit of my time in the middle of March, but I think it was time well spent! Even if people continue to be confused by TikTok "fan" accounts, at least the video might protect people from anyone posing as me on Discord, which is the more important thing to stop.
Other than that, it's been a solid month for the album project, although I'm still not at a point to post anything to the Patreon! But that's why I MADE A SPREADSHEET:
There is no greater feeling that filling out squares on this spreadsheet after I finish up the work on one section of a song/video. If I compare this spreadsheet to the one in the March Progress Report, I can remember that, oh yeah, I did do a good amount of work on this!
The biggest shifts are in "froghorn.exe" which is almost completely finished (I had considered posting just the song to Patreon, but I think this one really needs a video accompaniment to get), and "oh dang oh shoot" and "embroidered suit" have full skeletons and lyrics, and have been sent off to Jonah to help make the songs sound actually nice! Jonah's been hard at work on TWO different EPs (you can keep up to date on the Altogether Insta) so I am extremely glad he's making some time for these silly songs.
In non-album project news, I went to PAX East for a day! It was a real whirlwind—I didn't realize I was officially going until earlier this month, and by then the best flights I could get were a redeye that got me in at 6am ET Saturday and left the next morning at 8am ET. But I had an amazing time, and I got to meet a handful of patrons there as well! I'm sorry to say that the only two photos I took while there are at the top of this post: 1) me struggling to stay alive at 7am in rainy Boston, and 2) Jenna and I quickly snapping a photo after the Um, Actually panel because I was silly and forgot to take one while everyone was still in their seats.
And the final photo in the top section is of me trying on glasses, specifically for "the hardest part of getting new glasses." I did not buy those glasses. They didn't suit me very well. Nor did most of these ones:
That's just a portion of the ~300 photos that I made Karen take of me while I tried on glasses. I'm going to use them in the video somehow, but I haven't started it because I looked at the folder and went "oh no." So I'm gonna steel myself and finish the song and then hop in this coming month.
And OH YEAH, the first three episodes of Um, Actually are out now on Dropout!
I'm so happy these are the first three episodes, and I can't wait for you all to see the rest of them.
More of the album project! I think April should have a few things coming up on the Patreon. I'm still hopping around on each video, which is good for my creative process, but bad for finishing a single project to upload here.
But here's my aim for next month: at least one full video and song uploaded here, and at least three other songs/videos 90% done. The beauty of a rolling publish schedule is that I'll have time to finish the later songs while the other ones go out to the public, but by the time we're at July, I'll want seven completed videos. AND I CAN DO THAT!
And, of course, Karen and I are still working our hardest on our scripts and pitches—still no news on that front. At least that means I have more time for the videos!
See y'all soon!
