NEW VIDEO: Space Quest - My Kingdom for a Starship

https://youtu.be/uhTx0kjH44o

It's finally here!

Space Quest is a special little gem. It can be just as cruel as Sierra adventure games' reputation can lead you to believe, but there's also something about the way it executes everything that makes talking about it a bit trickier than normal. Committing to a more light-hearted tone certainly helps but I think there's more to it than that. I'll let the video speak for itself.

Boy those deaths though...

I have one of two smaller projects ready to get underway. They need to be small as I'll be going away at the end of the month, needing to travel for personal business, and when I get back it'll be the Steam Next Fest, so don't want to start something big and then leave it hanging while I'm elsewhere.

One is Tony Hawk, which I've talked about before. This is most likely to happen first because some news happened this week in gaming that made the video very relevant and has otherwise just put a fire under me about it. The video is bigger than just doing kickflips for points.

The other idea I had for a small video is Yahtzee Croshaw's The Consuming Shadow, a Lovecraftian Horror Roguelike of his which has some elements I genuinely like and wouldn't mind talking about. Yahtzee has a new game coming out this month, so it seems a good time to bring it up.

I'm determined to get at least one of these out before I leave, so hopefully I'll speak to you all soon.

Stay safe

Jack

This was a fantastic start to my day! Thanks for your work tackling the occasionally cruel challenges of text adventures and reporting your experiences. The evenhanded assessment and good humor you inject into these videos is always appreciated. I’m looking forward to the Tony Hawk video, especially considering the broader context of current events that you alluded to. The games industry is very ill. On the other hand, it’s always a great time to hear about games I’m not familiar with, and a lovecraftian roguelike seems like it could be great fun. Also exciting to hear that you have MGS and KH projects planned further down the line! They may be massive, sprawling webs of complexity, but I love them all the more for it. I wish you all the luck with your current projects, and safe travels ahead.
