Writers/pitches wanted (Southern food, travel, lifestyle) | $150-$200 per article

COMPANY/PUBLICATION: MODERN SOUTH MAGAZINE

Kellie Walton, Editor in Chief of Modern South Magazine, is looking for writers/pitches:

I am launching a digital publication offering a fresh take on Southern food, travel, lifestyle, and tradition (Modern South Magazine). The official launch will be early December, but I’m building my roster of writers.

I’m seeking writers who live in the South and who align with the mission (here’s the why if needed). I have some stories I’d like to assign, but I’m also open to ongoing pitches. At the moment, I’m not covering Florida or Texas. I’m paying $150-$200 per story depending on word count and the amount of research/interviews needed.

Some Content “Experts” I need:

• Regional travel and food roundups

• Restaurant/chef and hotel features

• Southern home decor, fashion, and lifestyle experts

• Philanthropy and non-profit coverage

• How Tos (i,e, How To Winterize Your Yard, Your Ultimate Guide to Chopping Anything and Everything)

Pitches and portfolios should be sent to hello@modernsouthmag.com. Please let me know if you need any additional info from me!
