Dev Diary #110

Normally I write a DD here and another in Itch but this time it will be exclusive here since it's kind of brief all I want to say, so first things first: In November the payment method in Patreon will change due to the IOS changes... that means that from November any new member will always be charged the day they became a patron (if you become a patron on day 4, on day 4 of the next month you will be charged, not on day 1). If I have not misunderstood all of this, current members will not be affected by the change, so if you want to be charged on a day other than day 1 of each month, you should resubscribe on the desired day (starting in November). Likewise, I will make a reminder of all this again when the changes are implemented.

That said, let's move on to the next point.

Starting next week, everything should slowly return to a normal pace. That means that my “holidays” end soon, and from next week onwards, current members will be charged again, as always, just so you can keep that in mind.

My first goal after my return is to get to work on the third-anniversary game, as I honestly still feel bad about not having done one back in April. We are still in the third year and there are still a few months to go, so I think it's a good "starting point" to work on that first. This should happen during September, and after releasing it, get to work on LA again.

Regarding LA... I have several changes in mind that I have yet to decide on, including the pace at which I will bring new content (how often), also disabling some incomplete content temporarily, etc, etc. We'll talk about that over the coming weeks. I also want to make some changes here on Patreon in terms of benefits, but like all changes so far, it's to provide more benefits.

I've been wanting to get back to work again for days now, and although my aches/pains still give me a hard time throughout the day, I hope that by Xmas I will be fully recovered once and for all (this sht seems to be endless). I've even restructured my workplace to see if I can mentally approach this working-from-home thing differently. I don't know, everyone sees it as an advantage and a super cool thing but I see it... complicated, especially because you never get to disconnect. Besides, it is hard to take it as a normal job in which there is a schedule already established, you do your day, go home, and forget about everything until the next day. For this reason, among the changes I want to implement, is to try to have an established schedule with weekend days to rest a bit, and all that, I even want to go the gym, I've been involved in my work 24/7 for many years forgetting that without good health there is no good job, and now I'm paying the consequences of all that...

Anyway, at the end of the day, the changes are going to be "oh, okay, no problem" for you, maybe the only one that stands out will be the frequency with which the new content will be released (from every month to every 2-3 months), but as I said, we will talk about it more in-depth in the next DD.

I hope you are enjoying your holidays, hope there are no more heat waves, hope the summer ends soon, and a lot of good vibes for those of you who are already back to the routine of studying, working, etc.

See you soon! Don't forget to follow me on Twitter/X if you wanna see memes & stuff!

I don't use Discord anymore, I've moved to Twitter, the problem is that until I update the game, I won't delete the Discord icon/link in-game... So don't worry about it, you don't need to join there, instead, I would recommend joining Twitter if you want to. And huh, yeah, maybe somewhere on Patreon there are still some messages/texts about Discord that I have yet to delete. I apologize for that.

Let me start by saying welcome back and I appreciate what you have created. For lack of knowledge and not knowing where to drop this post, I'm leaving it here and hoping you see it. I am not 'brand new' to your game but I did become a supporter on Patreon earlier today as I enjoy your content and creativity. I will add here that I am also not good, at all, with technology. I tried to join your discord and it says to post I need to register my phone. When I put in my number it says something about it not being a VOIP. My number is not a VOIP, I pay a bill every month to Spectrum Mobil for it. I am guessing that's a problem between Discord and my mobile carrier and has nothing to do with you but I am hoping someone more tech-savvy than I might understand and have some solution. Anyway, thank you again for the game. I will continue to enjoy it and support regardless of the issues I have with Discord. (Forgive me if there was a better place to post this)

Robert Lay

welcome back
