Progress update

 Hi

Well, it's Wednesday and time for a progress update.

The Dana recoding is going pretty well, it started quite slow, but once you get the hang of it, speed increases quite quickly. And it should be all done, early next week.

The side project is a bit of a different matter.

The increased complexity of the renders makes render times atrocious. Currently I average 3h per render.

The main problem is hardware. Although my PC is pretty good, we're in a different league now, regarding the need for horsepower. But thanks to your generosity last month, and hopefully this month as well. And some of my own funds. I'll be buying a server, and setting up a the beginnings of a mini render farm in my closet, this April. That should alleviate most of these problems, and the main bottleneck will once again be, the time I have to work on the games.

In the mean time, I'm not sure I'll have the demo ready this weekend.

I'm not sure how large demo's usually are but, I was hoping for a full in game day, however I don't think I'll have more than 50 renders done by then. And I doubt that will be enough to cover the stuff I've written for the first day of gameplay.

By comparison, one day in a Dana weekend event, or getaway, has about 130 renders.

I'll be releasing the demo on Tuesday at the latest. Weather it's the full day, or maybe half of a day, however much I can get done.

Why Tuesday? Because that's when I'll have to start work on Dana content for the patch. I don't like it when creators release patches with under the hood improvements, and no new content. I hate it when people do that to me, and I won't do it to you.

So, there will also be new content in the next Dana patch, not just the redone code.

I leave you with a few pics from the side project. I still haven't found a name for it BTW. So if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
