It's May!

I literally wrote all day yesterday and today!

Today, it was mostly Waifu Death Squad stuff--one of my cowriters, Kevin, suggested a character relationship sheet, and we've got at least 25 characters with opinions about the other. 25 by 25 is 625 cells. 625 cells with an average of ten words--and I'm sure we're waaaay beyond that--is 6,250 words. That means it's more than Adios' 4,600 word script! Wild, right?

We had scenes, characters, then a rough plot, then a premise, then we plotted out the whole game's major arcs and themes, and now we're drilling down into the finer details. It should lead to a robust, exciting story by the end. But, hey, we're designing a kind of game that's never been done before, so... who knows? I'm having a blast.

YESTERDAY, though, I wrote my latest article:

https://docseuss.medium.com/lore-is-a-trap-and-will-kill-your-story-if-you-let-it-so-what-can-we-do-about-it-9f84850980e3

That's what you're all here for, I'm betting!

It's a piece on how too many people rely on lore as the base of their proverbial dish, when lore's really more like salt--essential, empowering... and too much of it will kill you.

But what it's really about is how to motivate yourself to write a story.

Check it out, let me know what you think over on twitter (that's where I can be found!), and thank you so, so, so much for your support!!
