Apache by The Shadows

Hello all,

Following on from last week’s perhaps slightly obscure song choice, this week I thought I’d head in the opposite direction and look at an all-time guitar classic: Apache by The Shadows.

I’ve gone all out with this one: it’s a two part, in-depth look at the track covering both rhythm and lead parts, theory, technique and gear. I thought I already knew this one pretty well, but I made lots of new discoveries whilst putting these videos together.

Part one which mainly covers the acoustic rhythm guitar part and be found here:

I was going to put part 2 out next week, but rather than leave people waiting, I thought it would be a better idea to put out both parts simultaneously. So here’s the second video which covers the lead guitar part, and examines the Hank Marvin tone:

Tabs can be found below. The rhythm and lead parts are in separate PDFs/Guitar Pro files. And the backing track will be in the next post.

Hope you find the videos interesting. Since I’m putting next week’s video out today, as it were, I’m going to be taking a break next Friday. (It’s Easter holidays here in the UK and I’m going to be busy with family stuff...) Which means the next video will be coming out on April 15th.

Speak soon,

Adrian
