"Made with Layers" rebrand!
Added 2021-06-26 22:26:17 +0000 UTCHey, the folks who joined me today for the Q&A Hangout will have already heard about this, but over the next couple of months, I'll be rebranding the channel to "Made with Layers"
I know, I know, I've been talking about this for a while, but I think the time is finally right to pull the trigger on it. You may have already seen a sneak peek of the visual style in the lastest video, but in the end I settled on a style that doesn't tie too strongly into 3D printing or any other form of making specifically.
Some of my most popular videos are not about 3D printing specifically, and ultimately I want to do more projects that combine different methods of digital fabrication, in addition to the pure 3D printing content you know the channel for.
Why the name? Everything has layers. Be it layers of a 3D print, layers of paint, layers of wood veneer, layers of CNC machining marks (?), layers of machining processes, layers of functions, layers of software frameworks - in the end, everything we make isn't just the result of a single task we did, but the culminations of hundreds of processes, methods, learnings from makers all around the world. So I think the name fits pretty well ;-)
(Also, side effect, it's a name people will actually be able to pronounce)
So keep your eyes peeled for the new name and logo to pop up - and for the video of me building a physical version of the logo!

I add more “er”s to the end of your name every time I type it. I can’t say I won’t make the same error with the new name, but at least “layers” starts out shorter! 😉
